Use of Rolex images on advertisements
Can a jewelry store use images of Rolex watches if it isn't an A-D? Either I have a new AD that is sending out these fliers or they're just simply helping themselves to a TT datejust and YG Daytona for advertising.

I would guess that being an AD is like buying into a Franchise which allows them the rights to use the images and logos of Rolex, but then it would be only for AD's but hey I could be wrong!!!

If a jewellery store is not an auth AD it cannot use official images of Rolex watches. The reason I know this is because I know a non AD and they used piccys of some watches and received a letter from Rolex asking nicely to stop using them or legal action would be taken. It seems the local AD was not happy so grassed them up to Rolex.

RolexUSA is very particular with AD's using their logo or image. I just spoke with my AD about this very subjest a couple days ago. They cannot use it in their Yellow Pages ad or even mention that they service Rolex watches. They cannot show it on their individual websites. He is located in a city in the US that is right on the Canadian border and he ran an ad in a series of nearby Canadian newspapers because there were no Canadian AD's nearby and Rolex contacted him and told him he could not run these ads because it was outside his market area per his contract.
Get this, I had a eBay listing cancelled by eBay because Rolex's attorneys notified them that it was an infringement of the Rolex trademark. I featured a picture of the Rolex logo from the watch box in the listing. They issued me a trademark infringement violation on my account for a one year period!! |
