14060 or 16610 ??

Hi,

I need some help to decide which SUB I should choose. What are the difference between 14060 and 16610? Please give me some arguments to choose.

I chose the 16610 because I wanted a date feature. Both are great watches. You need to decide if the date feature is worth the extra money.

16610. Its all about the date feature. You will use the date more than you know, and the cyclops gives it that classic "Rolex" look that is identifiable across the room.

Bottom line difference between the two is do you like the cyclops and date? If so, go with the 16610. If not go for a 14060M. If you really like the clean look, go for a pre-COSC version which has less verbiage on the dial.

AFAIK 14060M has no date, has no SEL (so no solid end links), and the bracelet centre links are hollow. If I remember well, the diver's extension is also different. There's of course a price difference, and a slight weight difference there as well -- both in favor of the 14060M.

As many have said already its basically a choice between having a Sub with Date (and cyclops), or one with no-date (and flat no-cyclops crystal).

There is also a slight difference in case size, with the 14060 having a slightly smaller diameter (I think it may be 39.5 vs 40 mm) and being slightly less thick.

Going through the same debate in my own mind. I frequently use the date on my watch, possibly moreso than for the time, and yet I prefer the look of the 14060. And I'm spending way too much time thinking about it. If Rolex made a non-COSC date version I think I'd go for that.

I faced this decision and went with the 14060M. Don't regret it, and love the watch. Can't go wrong with either, but I think ND looks nicer.

Toughest call of all...both are stunning, and, while Sub No Date is closer in looks to essential James Bond Submariner, I think that Date function can be VERY useful! So, my vote goes for Sub Date.

To add to the confusion, if you like to have a date setting, but don't like the cyclops, you can go with the sea dweller!

Choose with your heart on this one. You can't go wrong.

16610 IMHO. i bought the ND about a year ago, regretted it within minutes of leaving AD. i recently purchased the 16610 with the date and am in love. But both are pretty stunning.

Take the Sub with date. If you really want to sell it one day it´ll be a lot easier and you get more money back (even compared to the lower price). It is the most wanted watch in the world.

They have the same base movement with the 16610 of course having a date feature.

As stated above the bracelets are different with the 14060M using the older 93150.
The 14060M is the last of the breed to use this. Both are wonderful pieces with a strong following (as you can see)

If you need the date but don't like the cyclops go for a Sea Dweller.

If you need the date but find the Sea Dweller too heavy/thick and you don't mind the cyclops - go for the Sub Date.

If you don't need the date go for the Sub ND.

Sub date, I need the date function. The second hand price of ND subs are selling alot less than Sub date.

as i understand it, the less parts within, the less likely your watch will foul up. without the date, the 14060 is thinner and has less parts to go wrong.

i think all 14060/Ms are the same: over time the hollow end links will rub away behind the lugs - this takes a very long time though.

if you looked at well worn 5513s, you'll get what i mean.

if this isn't a major irritation, and you don't need the date, and you prefer a slightly thinner watch, and you want a near-unbreakable watch...

go for the 14060!

(the "newer" 16610s have solid end links and the wear builds up inside the lugs, so it's less unsightly)

i personally like a non-COSC version. really clean and classy... but for most people, the date is the most glaring omission.

With some models, such as Daytona and Milgauss, you have no choice - they have no date function. So, when there IS a choice within a given model, why not pick the one with date?
