how do rolex check if watch is authentic?

here in manila, i brought 2 rolex watches in our rolex service center. they were so detailed in their verification. it took them almost two weeks! but they were so detailed. all parts were scrutinized, if the watch was modified, if they use genuine rolex parts, even the scratches and cracks in all parts. best of all, it cost only about 20 us dollars. how about in your areas?

RSC Dallas (US) charges $50 to authenticate a watch for insurance. The way to get around paying is to take the watch in for service, ask for a service estimate and then decline the service. They have to open the caseback in order to tell you what needs to be done, so you know the watch is authentic.

In the US, they use a rubber mallet. They hit the watch 3 times. If it keeps ticking then its genuine. If it stops, its fake.

Actually, if it keeps on ticking, it is probably a Timex.

I saw this answer and i am sorry, i agree sometimes a fee should not be charged or sometimes it is overpriced, but to advocate cheating someone out of a legitimate labor charge whether you agree with it or not. Just does not sit well with me.

Rolex Canada charges $150.00 CAD for an Authenticity check. The process takes 7 business days.

In the cultural Mecca that is Olden Texas we wait till the dude that lives at the lake comes to town to pick up repair work and we get him to wind and listen to them and tell us if they are Rolexes or not. This service is free and takes about 3min.
