It's really contingent on the individual timepiece, but I love the plain indices. I also love Arabic, but my preference is for the plain while the current trend seems to pair Arabic dials with concentric and sunburst backgrounds. I truly am a minimalist and like my dials uncomplicated.

I prefer diamonds, but if I had to choose an alternative I'd go with Romans.

Love the blue sticks on some explorer? faces, whilst the
Romans on some Datejust faces are sublime!
Even those large looking Arabics look good on SOME dials. (sun dials? they'll be roman won't they?)
Not sure though, about the single stick at '9' that I've seen on
one or two models.
Silver SL65 or black .........
Personal choice, drives us on, doesn't it?

Romans

I love Romans, like the sticks. The Arabics can be attractive like on the WG Daytona or the watches which originally came with arabs.

Cheers

Jacl

Sticks, especially the fat glowy ones with as much lume as a Sub indice.

Arabics are more military looking, and only work on a very utilitarian design.

Romans are very dressy and should not compete with other features on the dial or bezel.

The Arabics only edged out the Romans by a hair for me. I prefer either to sticks in most cases.

Hmm – depends on the exact watch.
Generally, I’m to the stick markers, but some sports watches, as my wife’s Daytona looks great with the Arabic IMO.

Is there a special term for dials with the Arabic “upside down” like the dial on the Daytona below?

I can't vote as it really depends on the watch....

For the DD I am a big fan of the romans.

On the Daytona I love the arabic numerals.

Sticks can look nice and classy as well
