7 Piece Rolex Collection

What would be the ideal 7 piece Rolex collection? It can not have any PM pieces, TT is okay. Duplicates of the same model is okay, example two GMT, or a handful of DJ.

1. Sub date black
2. Dj 41 fluted jubilee mint green
3. Sub date green bezel
4. Pepsi jubilee or oyster
5. DJ blue motif fluted jubilee
6. Root beer
7. Daytona Panda

What’s everyone else think?

I'm sorry, a collection isn't complete, imho, without a DD so it need a PM watch.

For me;

DD40, Sub TT Bluesy, Milgauss, Air King, TT Daytona (slate dial), YM40 (Rhodium dial), and I'm one short. It may end up being the Ti YM or a 1908 (or both or something totally different).

I'd want PM in there for sure. A bunch of steel.... rather have two watches... a sub and a PM daytona.

PM is great to have and easy to pick from if you had to put a collection together. The challenge is putting together 7 pieces of SS or TT.

Who needs 7 Rolexes? You should whittle that down. Get rid of three divers, and a DJ, and add a DD, even if it’s PM
So, based on your list: Root beer, Panda SS Daytona, Mint green DJ, as you configured it, but 36 mm, platinum DD, fluted on president light blue dial. Also, throw a black Explorer in the mix. That’s more than anyone needs.

My Rolex collection would consist of only precious metal, so this thread is kind of irrelevant

I think the correct terminology for a 7-piece modern Rolex collection is a “catalog,” and it would have an Explorer and a PM.

7 Piece Rolex Collection

Submariner Date 126610 LV
GMT Master II BLRO 126710
Daytona 116500
Explorer II 216570
Deep Sea Sea-Dweller 126660
Sky-Dweller 326394
Sea-Dweller 43 126603

Then add a gold Submariner, Daytona, and GMT Master for a perfect 10 watch Rolex Collection.

It’s taken me years to realize I’m not a Day-Date person.

7 is far too many.

I already own the first 2 of the 3 below, and if the third never happens I still consider myself extremely fortunate:

Submariner 124060
Explorer 114270
Daytona Black Dial 116500LN

Yes, only 2, at the moment, though I will add at least one or two more. I just recently got back into Rolex. I am an avid Seiko collector, and have various other brands, both Swiss and Japanese, and more than a few micro brands. I am just a watch lover.

What are you going to wear for arctic exploration and spelunking? Think you need to drop a DJ and add in some outdoor watch diversity.

No need to listen to somebody else, as long as you are happy for whatever you have, that’s all matter.

I think you have pretty good collection.

All encompassing, I think:

1. DJ41 - jubilee, fluted
2. SS BLRO - jubilee
3. Polar
4. SS Daytona LN white
5. DD40 RG
6. Skydweller - OF YG
7. Daytona platinum

Good mix of all 4 bracelets, PMs, dress, sport and daily

Have 7 that make YOU happy….whatever those 7 are, THAT is the “ideal” collection.
No rules in this hobby/journey.
I personally love all the metals in one form or another. I choose PM making up most of my (now) small collection.
Without PM involved, I’d go…..
1 sub date (or Sea Dweller)-SS
2 Daytonas-SS & TT
2 GMTs-SS & TT
2 DJs-SS & TT

For starters, if we're limited to 7, it for sure wouldn't have two DJ's. Or even one, actually. Or two GMT's or two subs. There are way too many other nice watches out there.
