Rose Gold Yacht Master VS Rose Gold Daytona

Hello Crew,

As the title says, I’m debating my third Rolex for the end of the year.

I like the overall look of the Yacht Master, but I feel with my Skydweller and GMTII, a Daytona would be the natural progression / continue creating variety.

Just wanted to see what you would pick and why. I’m sure the Daytona will get most of the love!

Watches I am considering
Daytona Reference: 126515LN
Yacht Master: 126655

Watches I have
Skydweller Steel Blue Dial
GMTII Pepsi on Jubilee

Honestly I’d rather have the yacht master. I traded my yachtmaster for a Daytona (meteorite even) and I miss the ym and sorta regret the trade.
I’ll prob get a 42 ym this time around but the 40 is really great..
I’m really not a Daytona guy. This is my first. It’s awesome and special but the yachtmasyer was just a great daily, loved that matte black bezel and the whole design just worked for me.

Buy the one you like more, just make sure it's the Daytona. :)

I'm going to be in the minority here, but, I definitely prefer the YM to the Daytona. I'm just not a chrono fan.

I’d prefer the Daytona, but I’ll bet a YM is a lot easier to obtain.

Yachtmaster! For me, a Rolex should be classy, and it’s why I chose the silver dial OP with the gold indices and hands. Pure class. That’s the same vibe the rose gold Yachtmaster gives off. The Daytona is just a fancy chronograph., and not as cool as a Speedy Pro.

It might be the quality of the pictures here but the Daytona looks like a million bucks on you.

The YM not so much

Yeah I really like the look of YM. When I was deciding between my Sky Dweller and a Daytona, I just gravitated toward the SD. The Daytona didn’t do much for me. Wish I could try them on back to back. I’m sure I’ll get the chance.

Yes easier and less expensive. Trading under retail.

Yeah I will need to try them both on to make a decision and feel good about it. But initially I like the look of the YM more.

The YM on rubber.
The Daytona only on bracelet.

Go the YM because it's the lesser of the two. You'll eventually sell it and buy the Daytona, so you'll have had the experience of both watches. If you buy the Daytona, you'll never buy the YM.

No right or wrong answer

Both enjoyed equally.

Some might say 2 RG Oysterflex pieces in one collection is a duplication & unnecessary

Personally, I like RG & Oysterflex so don’t care lol!

Word of advice. Never ever sell that Daytona. It's a special piece.

All day every day.

Although I do like the new release titanium piece as that one has an industrial charm to it IMHO.

So glad this thread exists !

I had to give up my full YG gold Daytona PN dial a couple weeks ago and went with a YM rose gold on OF.
It’s absolutely fantastic but here’s the funny thing.

I don’t miss looking at the Daytona on my wrist one bit, I find this watch way more useful cause of the date function and honestly is classier looking than a Daytona imo, however I do miss the IDEA of having a Daytona, and I’m not ashamed to admit , it’s literally cause of fomo.

I now have a watch that goes under list but that I like better than the Daytona, but I hate the fact that my watch is not a hype model and might not trade over list in the future.

Not gonna lie, but this makes me feel pretty stupid as ‘buying what you’ like should be the only reason you get a watch, but when a daytona is in the mix other factors come to play so it’s tricky.

Whenever I have these thoughts tho, I look at that YM and damn is that beautiful!
Would I go back to a daytona? maybe, but only if it’s a steel panda ceramic

I have the RGYM40 and it’s awesome.

I’ve never been a Daytona fan and I like having a date and timing bezel.
Easy choice for me

Really like them both. Given your collection, I’d personally go Daytona , then a WG yachtmaster down the road.

YM40 in RG is, IMO, the best looking RG watch in the entire lineup, the best looking OF watch in the lineup, and the only watch I think looks better in RG than YG, WG, or steel.

The matte black dial, bezel, and band combination works exceptionally well, and leaves just the right amount of gold visible to be subtle yet sophisticated. To me, this is the ultimate "blackout" PM watch. It just isn't something you can get with the Daytona (or SkyD) on OF.

With the Daytona, the color/texture combinations just don't work as well and I'm not a huge fan of the faux end links. I much preferred when the bracelet alternative on the Daytona was leather.
