Newly Acquired GMT-Master 1675

My ‘new’ 1675 has original dial and hands with matching lume, bezel insert, date wheel, and bracelet. The dial I believe is a Mark IV although the seller thought it was a Mark II? There are two chips on the outer edge of the dial at the rehaut between 11 & 12.

I do have a period correct tritium service dial that has aged lume as well and was wondering if I choose to swap it, would that impact value in either way? If I did make the swap, I would certainly keep the original.

What is everyone's thoughts on this? I am sure it will be do what I like, especially if I am not looking to ever resell, but curious to hear other opinions.

Thanks in advance!

Beautiful watch.

As long as the damage is stable, I’d keep it with the original dial. You could always get the chips filled if it bugs you. The original dial deserves to stay on the watch. Service dial is never going to be as good as the original.

Beautiful looking watch congratulations to you, I’d be leaving it like it is keeping it as original as possible.

Well you have both , and will keep them, so no big deal if just experimenting.

Is the other dial a match for hands though, if not I'd not bother or get some other hands that match.

The fact it's switched to a service tritium is not that much of an issue (unless you are selling it) as you have the original and tbh imho all about the aesthetics that please you.

It look nice patina as is though imho.

Long as it's wide, this one.

I do like the rich red/blue colors on the insert.

Very well done.

I don't get it.

First of all, why would anyone replace a nice original 1675 dial with a replacement? The original dial is not damaged that it is painful to look at, so why replace it?

Secondly, every time one removes the dial subjects the risk of damaging the dial. The two chips on the outer edge of the dial between the 11 & 12 markers are perfect evident of damage due to removal of the dial.

Yep something not adding up. This dial is probably refinished.

Thanks everyone for the comments! It's a birth year piece to boot, so that adds another element when wearing something of my own vintage.
