Hi,
I am looking at a Rolex 16760 that I came across. It has a serial number in the 8.4M series. From what I know, the 8.4M is very early 80s and should be on a Mk1 dial. This 16760 is a Mk3 tritium dial. Mk3 dials should be around 9M - R series onwards? Does this looks fishy or perhaps the Mk1 dial was swapped out and replaced with a Mk3? Any owners of 16760 able to advise? TIA. Here u go Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by Tools; 7 August 2023 at 01:46 AM.. |

Any early 16760s I have had are 'No Date' dials or Mk1.
This is a date dial (date printed after oyster perpetual), and might be Tritinova T25 ( looking at it's whiteness it looks Luminova applied on old unfinished T25 dial plate which RSC fitted from1999-2006). * I've not had time to see if it's 16710 service, sure someone else might advise if so *.

I've owned several 16760 models. based on my experience, the dial currently on the watch belongs on a 16760
that is much later than 1984. These later dials seem to have found their way on the early models due to the early dials being prone to excessive cracking or corrosion. Check out this thread posted a while ago on the 16760 dials. As I mentioned in this other thread today, there are two variations of the early "no date" dials. If you look at these two dials closely, there are several variations - the most notable being the style of the dial coronets and the absence of the hyphen between GMT and Master in the 1b dial. These are the first variations of the dials found on the GMT-MASTER II model 16760 up through the late 8.4 million serial number range. https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=537129
