Hi my first time to post

Im a retired nurse from Minnesota, I moved to Tx 3 years ago to get out of the cold now i want to go back, the 100 plus temp is killing me plus my AC went out last month when it was 101 that day. Ive never been married, no time with work and have 2 cats that i love to death.
My collection is a 36 mm datejust TT and 36 mm Explorer along with Omega DeVille quartz i have for many years.
Ive been just a reader the past few month but decided im not getting any younger so its nice to see so many Rolex fans out there.

Welcome Barbara!

I'm sure you've seen Kat's posts quite a lot, she's a retired nurse as well iirc.

First off, thank you for spending a career dedicated to caring for others, it's a thankless job.

Hope you post some pics of your watches. Are you content with the status of your collection or are you actively looking to add more?

Welcome to TRF

Thank you for the very kind words! and yes it sure seems to be these days. i retired at 60 due to heath reasons and missed the Covid virus. I never had children so i have nobody to leave anything to. I would like to get a 37 MM YM, Im a big girl and 36/37 mm is the sweet spot for me and love being in the water.
That would be about it for watches for me. My main "job" is foster mom for cats and homeless cats, in this heat i just want to cry for all my outside babies.

Barbara, Welcome to the forum! Where I live here in Japan is almost unbearable this year. The temperatures aren't quite high as in eastern Texas, but the humidity and heat combined make every venture outside an endurance test.

Thankfully, here and where you are, the temperatures should start moderating next month.

The YM sounds good!

There are other ladies wearing the YM (37mm) on this forum. It's a great waltch! Any idea which configuration? With a smallish wrist I considered it but prefer the 40mm ones!!! Welcome to the forum. My wife is a nurse and still working.

Welcome to the TRF Forums..Barbara ....
A lot of great info on here, which Im sure you're aware of....
I can see how Tx is unbearable.. so maybe time to move back up 'north'..to some degree where there is help needed for little feline creatures.
Your watches to date seem to work for you...Some ppl always want more....yet others have enough.
Hope you can settle for what you want.
Enjoy your time on here.....

Welcome Barbara. Texas is experiencing a tough summer but they are not always like this. My wife has two DJ 31mm and a 35 mm YM TT she loves. Wears great and she really likes it.

Welcome Barbara! I also retired young, from Nursing, and so glad I did. It enabled me to spend a lot of precious time, with my late husband, who passed away suddenly, at 63. I am originally from Philly area. I did volunteer to help during the Covid crisis, but the state of CA never called. My daughter lives in Dallas, and we have our own heat waves here, in Northern CA. It’s 105 today. I have a very large collection, of various brands, but just 2 Rolexes, and a Tudor BB58. I recently picked up a new 36 mm silver dial OP, after waiting over a year, to get the call.
Feel free to PM, with any questions, or just to get acquainted. JTL31, AKA Janet, is a friend, and also from MN.

Welcome to the forum Barbara C!
Texas and no AC does not sound like a happy retirement plan.
As mentioned, California is experiencing newfound humidity with the heat as well.
Just don’t forget about snow cones and popsicles…

I lived all my life in the twin cities area, Im 65 pushing 66....I was a ER nurse then ICU and last few years hospice. My BF was into watches and gave me the DJ TT a few years ago. Its my main watch but with all the holdups going on im very careful where i wear it and being Texas, always carry protection which is one of the reasons i moved here plus they dont tax S.S. like MN.
My friend was held up in the Houston Galleria parking lot last year and lost her LV purse and Rolex DJ plus was banged up pretty good. It scared her so bad she will not go into Houston unless someone is with her. Crime was bad in the twin cities also so i guess its a nation wide thing now, you cant go anywhere without it.

Welcome Barbara. Always nice to have another woman on the forum. My mom was a nurse and retired at 59 1/2. As soon as she could. She worked and the VA hospital. She had carpal tunnel in both wrists. I also think HIV/AIDS was really difficult for her in the 80’s. Seeing so many young men die was just too much. She passed in 2011. Miss her every day. I’m glad she was able to retire young and enjoy it for a few years.
Back to watches. I have a 37mm YM but it’s the rose gold on oysterflex. Such a great watch.
Been fortunate in SF with weather. Today was the warmest for a while and it was only 75.
