REDEX....anyone?

Does anybody use Redex regularly, or otherwise?
My, current wife has a diesel Mercedes, and our mechanic recommended the use of the fuel additive, "for better consumption, and to keep the injectors clean".

When I was a lad, we used to put a squirt of the stuff in our two-stroke Lambretta tanks, (for better, upper cylinder lubrication) but can't remember any particular benefits.

If anyone does use Redex, or any similar product, in their vehicle, I'd be interested to hear about your experiences, before I buy the Missus anything.

Is diesel in the UK government regulated and required to come with additives (detergents) from the pump?

Or is there an option to use stations that have been certified by an industry standard like top tier?

If so, additives are not necessary.

Never thought to check anytime I was filling “petrol” in London or Liverpool

I know it’s not what you asked, but when I owned a TDI VW, it used AdBlue. About 1.5 liters per 1000 km to keep things running clean. We all know how that ended

I have used Power Service Diesel Kleen in my truck for many years. It does maintain performance. I believe it is available in the UK.

I mentioned that I’d used it when put my car into the garage a few years back & the mechanic told me off. Said that was what the service was for
