16713 root beer ghost bezel. what do ya'll think?

Curious if there's a way to ascertain if this ghosting is "natural" or somehow induced with chemicals, heat, or an ultrasonic cleaner? I instinctually like the way it and the watch look, but i don't know enough about this kind of piece to be confident

TBH, natural or artificial, it’s too far gone for me, and doesn’t fit with the vivid dial.

Definitely curious to hear opinions. From here I love the contrast between the empty bezel and the vivid dial, but I’m certainly curious what others think.

That is a little too faded for me as well.

I have two. One I found I have a hard time seeing at night so I got another one with a little less fade. Then I decided I liked the all brown like my original but new. Currently have a new half and half on it. I do like the vibrant colors more but do think it looks quite nice with the faded half and half. Will eventually sell the faded ones, most likely. At least I think I will… It's hard to say specifically what you like until you try it IMHO. Clearly, I have a problem.

Most would say we all have a problem.
OP, the first photo of the washed out bezel with the vibrant dial looks bad for me.
But the 2nd and 3rd photos look kind of ok but not natural to the watch IMO.
TL2, yours looks perfect with both the faded and vibrant Brn/Gld insert.
For me I prefer the brn/sil insert with the brown nipple dial in the 2T combos.

Something for everybody.

Personally, I'm not into the ghost bezel thing, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate a good-looking watch.

I agree. I would never wear it.

Hahaha! I suppose it not called the Rolexforums for nothing. Yes, that silver on brown looks fantastic but even more compelling for me is that rivet oyster bracelet you have there. Very nice! Not sure if I should go 78363 or one of those or just get another watch. Or nothing. And then I refer back to your comment above. Definitely a problem.

Personally, it is not for me. I prefer one with more substance to it.

Thank you sir…

I actually think it’s a pretty cool effect, certainly unique.

Lovely dial, hands and bezel Keith... intrigued.... is that a pukka rivet two tone....I ask, as all my early 1675/3's have folded link bi-colour with with non bi-colour / stainless steel end links.

I was rocking the ghost insert a few days ago

I like it. It really makes the dial pop. It doesn’t seem artificial to me as these do tend to fade in similar fashion. You more so run into the artificial fading in Pepsi inserts for the most part as some of those can command a premium. I say if you like it go for it.

I do like a nice ghost insert and the contrast they create, two lovely examples in this thread

Thanks Paul, this was one of my 1st Rolex purchases many years ago and isn’t perfect unpolished untouched etc.
But for the money paid back then vs now I can’t complain.
Full disclosure, the bracelet is a bi-color 7206 with SS 58 ends and 3/67 date stamp.
It’s older than the watch and I believe not 100% as-is from Rolex because the person I got it from said it was previously overhauled/rebuilt.
I liked the look and added it to my watch since the original jubilee that came with the watch was a newer 90’s replacement.
Just message me if you’d like to have some fun and do a little forensic investigation on the watch/bracelet as I’d welcome it.
