Q re a GMT II Bezel

Hello Good People,

I recently brought my GMT to an AD to have a black bezel replaced with the original "Pepsi" bezel. When I got it home and looked at it carefully, I noticed that the triangle in the bezel does not line up exactly with the triangle on the dail (e.g., 12 o'clock). The bezel triangle, when it is properly seated (meaning not between "clicks"), sits slightly to either side of the dial triangle. The only way to have the triangles line up correctly is to seat the bezel triangle between two of the clicks. I hope that makes sense...and no, unfortunately, I don't have pix. Having never removed the bezel myself, is this possible if installed correctly? Is the bezel supposed to have guides so that it will be "dummy proof" and always be installed with the triangles lined up correctly when at 12 o'clock? Such guides would seem intuitive, but I'm no watch maker. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I think the issue is one of the bezel insert not having been aligned with the clicks. The bezel insert is a press fit into the bezel itself. If the insert is press fitted in an position such that the 12 O'Clock triangle does not match with the clicks then you will suffer the result you are experiencing.

If you are not experienced in removing and aligning the insert, I suggest you take it to a competent watchmaker who should be able to set it right in a matter of minutes.

Will do. Thanks for the info and prompt response. I'm gonna take it back to the AD who made the exchange in the first place. I will now be armed with a little more knowledge. Thanks again.
