Rolex Champagne Dial Two Tone Datejust 16013 or Explorer 1 14270

Hello guys. I’m trying to decide between a Rolex Champagne Dial Two Tone Datejust 16013 or Explorer 1 14270. Both come with box and papers. I have an OP Date Silver Dial 1500 from 1974 and was thinking about purchasing another watch. Would like any insight on the manner. I have attached a few images of both. Appreciate you guys. Cheers.

A matter of preference. Love both pieces. If it matters the 14270 will be more collectable/investment grade. On the 14270 it should be a U or A serial as it's swiss dial/no lug holes. The 14270 should be about 60/70% more expensive probably mind.

I would go with the 14270 for sure. The prices of these are very reasonable. I also have a swiss only dial with a no holes case. That's a great model. You may try to find a 14270 tritium dial with holes case. I may have done that looking back on it.

These threads keep popping up, two totally different watches. Im guessing you are comparing them since they are similar in price? I would say pick the Explorer out of the two even though I own two TT DJ, a 16013 and 16233 which I love - I just think you can get more out of the Explorer.

I would also say that I like sharp watches, if one of them was much more sharp/unpolished I may lean toward that one.

Thank you for your time. I agree with it being more of an investment watch opposed to the DJ. Since I have an OP and the both 1500 and 14270 have an oyster band I'm leaning more towards the DJ. Tough choice for sure.

Yea my buddy told me the same thing. Very much so. I love the 14270 but I also have grown to love the TT DJ. I'll decide soon! Thanks.

Very different watches indeed. They both serve different purposes. Yes, these two watches I've found are pretty close in pricing. You can def get more out of the 14270 but I also wanted to pick something up that didn't have an oyster band. Thanks!

Somewhere between the DJ and the Exp1 and with oyster or a Jubillee from AD... the ten or so year run, circa noughties, 36mm turn-o-graph came on a Jubillee btw as well as an oyster (like the 90/00s 16710 gmt did).

Like this : Rolex Datejust Turn-O-Graph

Probably the DJ but I would prefer it in a SS.

Not sure if this matters for your decision, but I find the 14270 wears just a bit smaller than my 16030 datejust. Both are 36mm, but the datejust wears a little bit larger in my opinion. I love them both, and find myself wearing the 14270 more.

DJ has more eye appeal. An apples and orange comparison though.

That's a really cool underrated watch. I don't think Iv'e seen one on anyone. I think I like it better with an oyster band.

I went with the TT DJ. I have a SS OP Date which is why I wanted something different. But the SS DJ is a great option too!

I like JonesinTokyo for leather and cordovan straps. Very good quality and will customize. Prices are higher than mass manufacturers, but not insane. He doesn't really specialize in exotic hides.
