I got my first Rolex and it's a Datejust II!!

As I mentioned in the poll by JJ Irani, I was coming to Cancun for the weekend and in the meanwhile check my AD. Well, I went shopping with my wife this morning and I stopped by the AD. I told them I was interested in DJ II and they told me they got 4 a couple weeks ago. Two of them were gone instantly (One of them kept by the owner of the company that owns the AD and the other one didn't even make it to the shelves). So I asked to see the two they had available and the only one they had in Cancun was the DJII I'll show you (the other one was in Cabo San Lucas, in Baja). So they told me to come back two hours later (they had to bring it from the other store) and I came back on time. They came from the back with this sealed box and there it was... a beautiful Datejust II... Ivory dial, sticks, Rolesor.... I was speechless... nevertheless, it took me almost 1 hour to convince myself that I wanted it since my first option that I've been craving for almost 9 months since its release in Basel was the WG/SS. And well, that's the story how I got my DJ II... can you believe it? I still can't. (more pictures of my DJII and the Caribbean later)

Rolex GMT2C

What are opinions from those who own the Rolex SS GMT2C and the polished center links (PCL's)? That's the only thing that doesn't convince me 100% but the rest of the watch is stunning. In other words, I can live with the PCL's but it's not preferable. Maybe it's just a matter of getting use to them. I planning on purchasing one soon but am waiting for next years possible release of the new SS Submariner w/o PCL's.

Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated...

Congrats on being the very first on this forum to get that beauty, Alex.

You've not got my adrenalin pumpin' and that's not fair!!

Let's see some better pics of the dial, the case back and the bracelet clasp.

Also, could we have a price idea in US Dollars?

Many thanks - JJ

Many thanks, Alex.....that wrist shot looks good and the watch doesn't look big at all - in fact, PERFECT!! Anything smaller on that wrist of yours would look ridiculous!!

Love the clasp. Is that a flip-over clasp lock? Can we see some pics of the inner side of the clasp and the HALF link extension?

Cheers - JJ

Alex,

What a great looking new DJ and well done with your photos!

It looks really good. Lovely dial with the batons and the bezel really sets it off.

We've got to wait until around October in the UK for the initial distributions from Rolex.
