Compass Bezel ?

OK
Can someone really explain the use of the compass bezel to me?
It seems it would be useless unless you walk a straight line after setting it with your compass. Its not like it moves when you move like a compass.

I know I just have to be missing something so I hope someone can explain to me what I am missing.

There is some use to it. Point the hourhand at the sun, and find halfway from the hourhand to the sun. This point represents the north/south line. Turn the bezel so that the South marker is between the hourhand and the 12 marker, and there you go... you've got yourself a compass.

Hmmm
OK fair enough, I guess that could be quite useful in the right situation.

I just do not know if I really care for it or not.

I really like the 186 and how tough it is, I also like how it sits high (almost looks like it sits higher than the 243?)

I love how its a 24 hr hand GMT

I want a Panerai Sub model and like the GMT hand so it may be my best bet... As I said just dont know about the bezel for me or not.

I believe that is incorrect. U must be in the northen hemisphere point the 12 at the sun and the gmt hand will point north in southern hemisphere hold over your head and points south.
