Incoming New 126334
Dear TRF friends, wanted to share the backstory and initial impressions of my new Wimbledon DJ 41. It's my first DJ and also first jubilee bracelet. I asked my local AD for this watch about a year and half ago with the configuration fluted dial and jubilee bracelet. The response was "That is the most popular DJ configuration". The implication being - hard to get. Nonetheless, Six months ago, I received a call suggesting I should stop by (In Japan they are never specific) which means something I'm interested in is available. I was then offered the Wimbledon 41 but on the oyster with the smooth bezel. Although nice, I politely declined saying I'll patiently wait for my requested configuration. Three weeks ago I was offered a fluted. but again on oyster but with the option to buy a jubilee bracelet. Which I did. It took three weeks and here she is. OK, first impressions. Gorgeous IMHO. Glad I waited for this specific configuration. Very classic and will probably serve as my dress watch. The fluted bezel is exceptional - sparkles with every light source. Pairs nicely with the PCL's on the bracelet. Lovely. I also love the simple flip clasp. Rolex certainly makes awesome clasps. Here are the things which make me go "humm". It's hard to read. No way to sugar coat this. At a restaurant last night, I had to work at reading the time. Outdoors, day time, per my photos, no problem. Regarding the jubilee. Looks super - everything I was expecting from a looks perspective. As this is my 1st Rolex jubilee, and I am used to oyster bracelets, I thought it would feel a little more "solid"? When I run my finger sideways across the bracelet I can feel the edges of the three inside links. It almost feels a little "cheaper" than I was expecting. Is this normal? I ask the experts Nonetheless, I'm very happy with this watch, a lot different than my other watches and complements them very well.

Huge congrats and good for you at not jumping at the first offer that wasn’t what you desired. You took great pics too.
And don’t worry about any difficulty telling time, none of us buy a Rolex to tell time! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The inside links edges are indeed well defined edges and as such you should feel them when running your fingers across the width of the jubilee. If they were rounded off, the effect would devalue the stunning character of the jubilee.
You were absolutely right to wait for fluted/jubilee, as I did in 2017... |

Congrats!! You’re going to love the watch.
Similar story to me… gave interest to my AD with DJ41 Wimbledon Fluted Jubilee… After 1 year got the call for a smooth bezel on oyster… kindly declined… I told him that I need to get the one that I love and he respected that. 6 months after that got the one that I wanted… so all in all 1.5yrs. Well worth the wait! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Good on you for sticking to your initial choice and not just buying the first watch they presented you. If you're going to spend that kind of money, heck, if you're going to spend any kind of money, it should be on something you truly desire. So congrats to you!
