I chose sausage with decorated movement for my 112 and would do the same again for a 111

I personally prefer sausage dial for luminor cases and sandwich dials for radiomirs. Also worth considering the caseback - I think I’m right in saying that the sausage dial 111’s are the only old school bettarini luminor marina watches with both painted batons and a sapphire case back.

All 111s had exhibition backs.

Yes you’re right, all 111’s had sapphire backs. I was simply making the point that the only luminor marina - ie with a seconds hand - to have a display back as well as a painted dial was the 111. Which is a slightly different point. The 000’s and 005’s had a painted dial but a solid caseback and the 112 obviously had a display back but didn’t have a seconds hand. To complicate things the 111 started being made with a sandwich dial (after the G series I think) so in my mind that makes the ‘sausage dial’ 111’s - with a sapphire back - quite special.

I prefer sandwich dials. Both are great, depends on the model. 233 and 372 are both classic Panerai, for me and it is sandwich at makes them great. My 390 which is also special is a sausage.

My perfect 111 would be one with the fully decorated movement AND a Sandwich dial

Contemplated chasing down a 111 and doing a dial swap a few years ago in order to get the (IMO) best of both worlds but it all go too hard

I’m partial to either or these days. When I stated the search 4 years ago I eventually landed a 2006 sandwich full set.

Where I am, they don’t appear for sale too often, so I got the first full-set one I could without worrying too much about sausage/sandwich. Mine’s a sandwich dial, and I love it, but would be happy with the sausage dial too. Both look cool.

My 111 has a sandwich dial purely by chance. If I’d have found a sausage dial I’d have bought it and loved it just the same.
