Just picked up a Platty Yacht-Master... again!

Well, I've got good ol' Bluesy which will never leave the collection, and I've got my day-date, but I really missed my 16622. However, there's no way I could justify having 3 Rolexes, right? So, a friend of mine needed some work done and didn't want to plunk down the cash, but I knew he had a Z serial Platty that he never wore. After a little wheeling and dealing, I have a beautiful new timepiece on my arm. I'll upload some pics of it and the complete trifecta later

Congrats! That is a beautiful watch, I had my fiancee trying on watches (I think I am getting her a watch on Valentines day for a 1 year engagement gift or if I can hold out it will be our wedding in 1 year). We are going with a DJ for her first but she also fell in love with the mid size Plat YM. We talked and decided we would get eachother matching YM's for an anniversary at some point in the next couple years.

The yatchmaster series is the most underrated line at rolex , congulations on a fine timepiece, have you guys ever seen a plat yachmaster with the bluedial unstead of the grey, i think both look pretty darn good.

The platinum & steel Yacht-Master only comes with a platinum dial. Anything else would either be a fake or a dial swap.

That's what the gentleman told me is that he swapped dials , how does the blue look to you on the platty.

I have never seen one in person, but I think it would look fake if I saw one. The blue dial has gold lettering and indices on it, which usually belongs to TT or YG models.

A blue dial in a platinum YM would devalue it greatly considering the original dial is platinum which contributes to its high cost. And if you were to send it in for service, Rolex will remove the blue dial and replace it with a platinum dial and charge you for it.
