Are audemars Piguet white gold watches rhodium plated?

Can't find a definitive answer. Some people say the white gold APs are plated.

I recall Tim mosso saying in one of his reviews that AP does plate WG, but Im not 100%. try searching on YouTube for any WG RO reviews from WatchBox or Tim mosso and you should find an answer

Yes it's either rhodium or palladium plated, no way to get that blinding white look without plating or moving into platinums.

At one time Patek used rhodium plating on several white gold models. I found over time and daily use it wore and the piece became unsightly and had to be replated. No idea about AP but I wouldn''t purchase a rhodium plated watch even though the color is excellent.

This is where I got my information from. I couldn't believe it. I always assumed they are some sort of mix alloy to achieve the color like Rolex "gray" 18k white gold.

Yes. I feel the same way. I guess they aren't meant to be daily worn in APs eyes otherwise it shouldn't be plated.

Exactly. Show me why it's a bad thing. I've never seen an issue and I own one and about to buy another likely

I mean as long as it’s still 18K - is a little plating to keep it icey a bad thing?

Most people use plating to mask over lower gold contents - here it’s being used to boost the ice factor

Interestingly, rhodium is more than twice as much per ounce than gold. If plating is the only way to get that icy white sheen, so be it.

That icy white WG on an AP looks amazing compared to other WG pieces I've seen/owned.
