Seeking some thoughts from the group on trade options
Hi forum,
I have been pretty stable with my small collection that you can see in my signature. Over the years I have ebbed and flowed with buying, selling, trading, etc. and have owned a number of watches more than once over time. I have also dabbled into being a "one watch" person that worked a few times for me, once with the 16600 SD and another time for a record 6-7 years with the 114060 Sub. I've generally liked to keep one vintage piece and then dabble with others. Currently I still love my 1680 and think it will stay for the long term. I am also very enamored with my modern 126610 Sub Date. Those two are really great watches. I find myself wearing my Polar 216570 very sparingly. It is a beautiful watch, though it wears large and I wear it so rarely that I don't ever quite bond with it. My Milgauss Z-Blue is similar...there was a time when I forced myself to wear it for two months and I fell very much back in love with it...but here we are and I'm not wearing it that often. Each of these watches do have some back stories that make them somewhat special, though at the end of the day, they are just watches. I've always wanted a BLNR and maybe now on jubilee bracelet. I've debated about making a deal to trade off either the Polar or Z-Blue towards a BLNR...or maybe both and see if I can end up on the positive end of $$ if both are jettisoned for one watch. Hmm. The other major stretch idea is going for the current WG Sub, which would require getting rid of the new Sub Date, the Polar, and Z-Blue...probably still needing some money added...and keeping the 1680. I am still debating on the quantity of watches I want to have in order to feel happy. The current four is the most I've kept for a longer time period...having been more of a 1-2 watch person. I guess the bottom line comes down to these two options...perhaps I'll make this a poll...trade one or both lesser worn watches towards a BLNR to go alongside my two Subs...or trade three watches to get a WG Sub. |

Find out how much the watches you own are worth to the Trusted Sellers and what they want for a BLNR on Jubilee. Take those numbers and figure out what works best for you. I would consider moving the Polar Explorer II and the Milgauss for the BLNR and some cash back to me.

You’ll get fleeced trading in your watches to obtain a BLNR, but it will be hassle free.
Personally, I always advocate adding first, and then deciding what to sell of later. I understand that sometimes its necessary to raise funds to buy the next watch, but honestly that would feel like a last resort. In your case, be certain about what you are giving up for what you’re getting. It can be an expensive mistake if you’re not. |

You seem to be in this for the long term. I’d ask for the blnr from a few ad’s. Might be surprised. I’d hate to get hosed on the trade and overpay for a watch that’s quickly going back close to retail.

From a purely personal perspective (and after all, that's all any of this is!), I'd happily trade the Z-Blue for a BLNR. Why? Because I don't like the riot of clashing colours on the Z-Blue, and I LOVE the BLNR.
I also really don't like the 126619LB. If you were talking about a 116619LB, then that'd be a different story and I'd have voted to trade both the ExpII and the Z-Blue (and the new Sub Date) for it. But that's all JMO.

Thanks for the insights and poll answers! Very helpful. I am in the watch game for the long term and have done it slow and intentional for the most part (barring the early days when we were trading 14060 and 16700 models for $2500 all day, LOL).
I am patient enough to work with the AD route and may just get some current values on my lesser-worn watches, fortunately acquired before the craziness ensued. I should also force myself to rotate more often - I simply put one on and it stays on for months. |
