Rolex Yachtmaster 40 to be discontinued?

With the new titanium Yachtmaster in the lineup, why would Rolex retain the 40mm Yachtmaster?

Honestly never really know what Rolex will do. I love my YM 40...I think its highly underrated in the lineup and would be sad to see it get discontinued. I know they only fairly recently gave it the 32xx series movement update in 2021 I believe, so I would think maybe it will stay around for a few more years.

Can you at least provide some basic logic about why you think the 40mm would be discontinued, just because the 42mm Titanium is now also present?

Since the 42 Ti YM is basically a “super Sub”, I wonder if Rolex will discontinue the 41 Sub?

Other than the beautiful chamfers on the new YM I don’t like the light weight of Ti watches. Always feels underwhelming to me.
Having options in SS or PM seems the way to go

The TI YM will stay a unicorn. Even Pepsis will be easier to obtain than a TI YM. So no, this will have no effect on the other YM line.

I would say it’s more likely that the YM37 gets discontinued. Or if they keep it, they will upgrade the movement from the 2236 ladies movement to the 3235 that is in the YM40.

Who knows what Rolex will do, but I predict they will discontinue both the YM37 and YM40 models that are in Rolesium and TT Everose. Then expand the YM42 lineup with some cool new options on top of that amazing Titanium model. And maybe some new YM40s or maybe just make the YM a 42 only watch.

Definitely would not be surprised to see the YM37 go though. It never was a real popular option and can easily be had for under retail on the grey

I would not think so. Rolex does a good job at offering various sized watches for different tastes.

If they do, it's only to allow increased manufacturing of the YM42Ti. Rolex knows it's hyped to the moon and doesn't want valued customers to languish on waiting lists. Christmas is just around the corner!

Not sure I follow the logic. If a watch gets bigger the smaller variant regardless of materials and all becomes superfluous?

In a german forum they say that the YM II will be gone. New will be a grey/black GMT II in steel.

Last March, Rolex filed a patent for a new YM II movement. The patent was made public in October. So, yeah, the 11668X might be discontinued, but not the YM II.

A 42mm YM SS would be very appealing to me. I'd buy one with a pt dial if Rolex were to reissue it in the larger size. My 40 mm always felt slightly small to me.

It looks exactly the right size for your wrist.

I just wish they'd bring back the platinum dial on the SS YM.
The original and best looking in my opinion.

I have a solid sized flat wrist and most 42s look silly. As I’m a avg built guy, I wouldn’t see the logic in losing that range but who knows.

And I personally have little love for Ti watches beyond the aesthetic. They feel cheap.

Still love the 40mm rhodium. Hope they don’t go too big!

I share this opinion. Lovely watch and still obtainable at prices that are not too obscene, all things considered.
