Got the call Daytona available; decision time

Another one of these “got the call” dumb threads.

Few months back put a Daytona YG/OF on “request”. Today got the call that a YG TT White is available. Same in black, champagne.

Funny thing is this was the first request, before I jumped on the YG/OF with matte black dial and red indices.

Anyway, input welcome. I’m not a collector, but have a few.

Also not a VIP, so another indicator that some inventory is growing. Yes, some will say PM so no big deal…I guess, but 3 Daytonas on offer?

I’d post pictures, but on my mobile and files to large.

Thoughts?

If you want the OF, wait. You’ll get it.

Don’t settle… like you said inventory is growing so your desired configuration should be coming around.

Just wait for the Oysterflex variant. If they can offer you those they can offer it once it becomes available.

If I'm reading this correctly, you wanted a TT Daytona 116503 (or now 126503) and you added the YG/OF. They have a watch you requested, so now you have to choose to pass if you want the latter more than the former. If you plan on getting both, then take the bird in the hand.

While I have and love the TT XX6503 with white dial configuration, I bought it (like new) aftermarket for less than MSRP + state sales tax. No idea what the YG/OF trades for aftermarket. Just something you may want to consider. For some the AD experience is important. I can take it or leave it, having done both.

Depends on the dial but most YG/OFs are going above MSRP still. Agreed that getting the TT on the secondary market can be a good choice. I didn’t understand the second paragraph so good for you for interpreting it!

Yes, my original request was for the YG TT 126503. About a month later I called and asked that the YG/OF Matte black dial be placed at the top.

My AD “relationship is no big deal, but I also prefer to get these from the AD. They’re good folks so no problem passing and waiting. This isn’t a high pressure sale at all. It’s reserved and I’ll head down and take a look.

Personally, like TT Rolex offerings so not a hater there.

Yes, couple months back I specifically asked for a TT white dial 126503–new reference. Month later I called and let them know the YG/OF would be my primary preference.

They’re a good AD and this isn’t a pressure situation. All thing considered I prefer to get these at the AD. None of this is must have or worth any premium to go gray on.

I’ll go look and have a chat to see what they think.

If you wanted it originally I’d go for it. You might wait around for a call that might never happen

Absolutely go look at them & get them on your wrist! Look at them on-wrist & in the full length mirror. Hopefully, they will have an exhibition OF for you to try on as well. This is a lot of money to spend if you're not sure.

Many here will tell you not to settle for almost the watch you want just because it's available- better to wait for the exact model you want- once you decide what that is!

Good luck!

You asked for the OF but got offereed the TT?

I wouldn't buy a watch I didn't ask for. Unless you also love TT as much as the OF models.

Wait for the watch you want. Tell them again and wait. It will arrive.

Sorry for not being more clear. My original request was for the TT white dial. I later informed the AD that perhaps a higher preference was the YG/OF.

Both are on my preference list. This wasn’t a random consolation.

More to follow, but I do very much like the TT.

I don't quite understand what you're saying. But white dial TT Daytona is the worst configuration I've ever seen and I would not buy it for half off.... ok maybe half off and gift it to my wife.

Buy the OF and avoid the TT. Better watch and investment

I’d hold out for the OF if it’s an either/or choice. If you’re open to both, grab the TT now and get the OF later. I think you’ll find it even easier to get the OF if you buy a TT first.

I do prefer the OF more than the TT.

So spent a couple of hours at the AD today, great team and store BTW.

Just a reminder I did request the TT White dial, so from that perspective they 100% delivered.

Tried on the OF exhibition model and just couldn’t jive with it. Possibly due to the fact that the stock size was slightly too small. In the end I could have remained on the list for the OF “Paul Newman”, but felt the TT White dial suited me better.

Amazed at how much smaller the Daytona wears compared to my GMT II Rootbeer…almost a dress watch vs sport model.

Unlike most I like the TT models and that white dial is simply superb!

Good hunting out there!

New 12 series Paul Newman doesn't have the red Chrono hands anymore. All hands are gold now. Just FYI in case you didn't know

Did you let them know your request had changed or you now wanted two watches? If you requested the TT and still want it, I would take it. If not, I would pass on the TT and wait for the PM/OF version. See what your AD says.

I was in there late summer. I requested the upcoming new Daytona TT. I rank ordered the dials as White first, Black second and not interested in the champagne.

About a month later I sent an e-mail that basically said all things being equal I'd really like the YG/OF Matte Black/Red.

I don't know how that all looked in their system, but I never told them to drop the TT asks.

I took the TT today and am over the moon with it. I let them know to drop the YG/OF ask. In the end the OF was too much of a question ? for me as to comfort. All of my other watches have black dials to boot and are more sport orientated -- I think this YG TT Daytona White is a good formal nod also.

Anyway, appreciate all the discussion.

Sorry for the confusion

I also have a TT Explorer. For me, the TT Daytona white dial is my favorite configuration. Love the contrast. Enjoy.
