The Best Selling Mechanical Chrono on Chrono24 in 2023
I just saw this and I'm not at all surprised. A part of me had always wanted one (and considered it), but never went ahead yet. I've always been more into the dive watches and Chronograph pieces better suited for use in or around water. However, the history of the Speedmaster is difficult to ignore.
Based on what they're going for now I'll likely continue to appreciate them from afar while focusing on my aforementioned preference, but appreciate them, nonetheless. The image and article below from Fartello Watches gives more details: https://www.fratellowatches.com/spee...-in-2023/#gref |

Absolutely, its timeless. It also works well for new collectors because so many variants exist from over the years that it is far from impossible to get a standard model. This like few other watches is a piece I can see an entire collection being focused on.
Without a doubt! A part of me actually prefers the previous version (sapphire). Although the Hesalite version is true to the original spec certified by NASA, I'm a sucker for seeing the lovely inner workings of watches like these. Having to manually wind it every day or other day (not even sure) is part of the fun for me as a potential piece in the collection. |

Was kinda indifferent to the whole Speedy scene for a long time. But recently stumbled upon a great deal on a 3861 Sapphire sandwich that I couldn't pass up. So I grabbed it.
Now, I'm obsessed with it, and ashamed that I didn't get it before. ...Can't stop looking at the movement. |

For sure! Many would agree with this.
No doubt, I was able to find a picture of one I tried on at an AD years ago: Quote:
The sapphire version gets my vote as well for the possibility of admiring the movement. I have vintage watches with acrylic crystals and although Poly Watch can work wonders, I still find it a pain for daily daily use. However, there is no substitute for the appearance of the aforementioned from the right viewing angle. |

I think that the Speedy is kind of an essential in any collection, like a Submariner or a Navitimer.

That’s because there are a million different speedy versions. Live the watch but this isn’t surprising by any means given the low price of many of the speedy’s out there.

Believe it or not even $4000 used makes this watch out of reach for many people. Even ones with decent jobs.

Very nice, Brad! This is a very special model.

Certainly, albeit more within reach compared to other models and some brands, for many it will be. |
