Golden thoughts about Pepsi...

More and more often I hear that he has already eaten too much, that other versions are much more interesting, because Pepsi is an old boring with no panache... Where is the truth?

It’s polarizing for sure. Most love it, some prefer the BLNR, some flat out don’t like the colors.

Personally it’s my favorite Rolex ever produced.

The BLRO is one of my favorite references and has a foot in the past and the present. No matter the configuration of metals or bezels it works so well for me. I have owned the WG version but moved it along for the SS BLRO on Jubilee. Something about the colors and the shiny bracelet does it for me. I have looked at vintage Pepsi's and passed but have added a Tudor Pepsi that gives me that vintage vibe without the vintage price.

I recently was lucky enough to get the pepsi in meteorite (well I guess its been about a year). I absolutely love the watch and truly think it's a special piece when I put it on. Part of the deal I made with my AD was I would trade my pepsi on jubilee in towards the meteorite pepsi to help me alleviate some costs. There are days when I miss the steel version on the jubilee bracelet. Truly a wonderful watch fits well and is super comfortable.

I don’t know how anyone can’t love this reference. I guess there’s something for everyone in the Rolex catalogue.

This is iconic

The original Pepsi is the real deal.
Newer version, not iconic just updated.

Your version is a real legend, although older references with scrambled eggs on the indexes are also delicious.

It seems like old people really like this watch, a lot more than young people do.

How do you know? Could be true, just don't see a way to track it.

Income also matters, younger people are just starting out and don't have as much to waste on watches. $20k street price for a Pepsi - it's a lot to bite off. I'd be putting that toward a house down payment if I were starting out.

Interesting take.

I would’ve thought the opposite based on the members that I know here who own the 4 and 5 digits.

Some perspective from someone who had no interest in the BLRO. I have a fairly large collection and I am quite deliberate about my AD asks.

For the longest time the watch just didn’t do anything for me and I was much more of a BLNR fan (jubilee). I received one in the summer of ‘21 and I continue to find it one of my favorites. I always preferred the more subtle blue/black.

In early Spring of last year I was at a watch meetup and one of the attendees was wearing his. I tried it on and fell in love with it. For me the more muted Red was the clincher as I’m not generally a fan of Red in general.

Asked my AD and in late November I received it. Absolutely love it and I think it reflects how important it is to actually try a watch on in person (never have/will buy a watch unless I’ve tried it on).

I like both GMTs equally so don’t really prefer one over the other at this point…

Patiently waiting for an AD call...it's the only watch I have any desire to add at this point.

For me, the attraction to the BLRO is its direct roots to aviation: the early days of transcontinental flight and Pan Am, Gen. Chuck Yeager, Gemini and Apollo programs of the 50s and 60s, and NASA/ISS astronauts of today. My father was a WWII pilot, and I am a private pilot - couldn't imagine owning any other GMT but the BLRO "Pepsi".

This Rolex Magazine article does a fantastic job summarizing the history of the GMT

I have a panda Daytona ss as well as a dd40

The pepsi on jubilee gets the most wrist time.

If I'd be left with 1 watch I'd stick with the pepsi.

Are you felxing As I hardly hear this, I believe the majority like the Pepsi. However, many (including me) simply refuse to pay the current premium in the secondary market for the bezel as I do not think it is worth it.

Personally, I find all current GMT models are appealing and worth owning at retail ( no exception!)

Buying directly from AD Rolex is the most desirable means of obtaining a Rolex, which does not mean that those bought second-hand will be less enjoyable.
