AD called for a 126715CHNR would you buy?
I noticed this watch is selling below retail. Is this something you would buy if the AD called? I’m a collector not a reseller.

Its nice to know when you purchase at an AD your watch is ABSOLUTELY authentic, free of ANY blemishes/scratches., and your named as the original owner. That said if you plan on daily wearing & don't care about anything I just said, by all means go gray and get a discount.

That’s an awfully expense watch to buy unless you’re really in love with it. If you have to ask I’m guessing you’re not.

If you're worried about purchase history to get something else (e.g. an 126500LN), it may make sense to get it from the AD if you like the watch.
Otherwise, there's no way I'd buy it from the AD vs grey, unless I had enough money to where the AD experience was worth the extra money. |

It's gonna be 100% legit from an AD. The relationship goes a long way. Don't just look at saving $2k on 1 piece. SA will allocate more pieces with a better relationship (spend history).

If it's something you've wanted and plan on keeping for awhile the tax and the limited additional cost shouldn't be a deal killer. Plus you build spend / purchase history. If you're not sure this model is for you it would be better to go grey since getting out will be less costly. IMHO

If I wanted it I’d buy it new from the AD, a safe seamless transaction and a goodwill builder. If I wanted it I’d buy it to keep it and if I decided later I didn’t want it I know the AD would take it back in trade. If we’re just talking about a couple of grand I’d take the AD deal every time.

I asked myself the same question. My AD offered me the exact same model full rg rootbeer and it was towards the end of December and I didn't have time to go in and get it. With the new retail price (increased) it makes my decision much easier as it was quite a hefty increase and I'd rather add a bit more towards a patek or rg olive dd

I would only buy from an AD if i cannot find it cheaper at a trusted dealer.
Funny, i see a shift in opinions about trusted dealers selling new watches. The last few years it was all “only MSRP for me” and those darn flippers and AD’s to i can get it below MSRP now at any trusted seller. It is still the same mechanism at work how those dealers get those new watches. Only now it is in our advantage. |

It's selling below retail, but not enough to justify going grey. It'd stick with the AD on this one.

Depends on the price difference. I wouldn't just buy the cheapest on the market.
For such an expensive watch I wouldn't want to buy from a private seller, I would only feel comfortable to buy from a dealer with an excellent reputation - and that costs a bit more. |

I’d buy it from your AD, especially if it’s going to be a keeper

It cannot not be much off retail. If you want one, get it from an AD, especially where you intend to keep it.

its funny, not long ago most of us here would buy this watch through a grey dealer and pay a 5k to 10k premium. Now, they are being offered at an AD for MSRP and are contemplating saving maybe 2k through a dealer. I would buy it from the AD if its the watch you want. The AD relationship is the way to go

If it's watch you're going to keep and wear, yes.

OP: for a watch of that value, I'd feel better buying from an AD, even at full retail, as I would have no worries the watch wasn't 100% legit. But I would only do so if I absolutely loved it and fully intended on keeping it. |

If you are worried about post purchase value a PM watch isn't for you.

I do go AD as long as you indeed like it.

If it's a piece that you like, have been wanting, and plan to keep it, then a definite yes! It's nice to know that you're the first owner and that it's truly brand new. I haven't watched the market on this ref, but I don't think grey is that much less than MSRP. Plus, buying from your AD will give you more purchase history for your next piece.
If you're not sure that this will be a keeper and just want to try it for awhile and potentially resell it, then grey would probably be the better choice. A bit less money out of pocket, plus no worries about reselling it right away if you don't bond with it. |

It’s not something that I want, so it’s not someone that I’d buy.
