Sell Skydweller by Rose Gold Daytona

Hey everyone, I have a blue dial Skydweller 2023 jubilee all steel, that’s in near perfect condition. I love the watch I think it’s absolutely beautiful and it was my first Rolex purchase.

My goal was to always keep it a part of my collection, but ever since I bought a Pepsi on Jubilee and I wear that 90% of the time it’s got me thinking. I typically wear the SD for nicer events or places I want something a little bit more flashy, since it has the fluted bezel, and it’s all steel versus the coloring of ceramic around the bezel on the Pepsi.

I really want a rose gold oyster flex Daytona. My plan was for this to be my next watch and keep both the sky dweller and the GMT but the SD sits in my watch box quite a bit and I’m wondering if it would be smarter to just sell it and use that towards buying a Daytona, which would get way more use.

I know it’s completely up to me and it would be bad ass to have all three, but just want to know what you would do if you were my position.

If you almost never wear it and you think the Daytona would be more used then i would do it. And a PM watch is also very magical to have. You won’t regret it i think. Go for it.

Never been that much of a fan of the skydweller, so I would probably move it along. Especially if I wasn’t wearing it. I would also consider a full gold piece before the daytona on the oysterflex.

That’s true I could always buy it before Rose gold version and buy the oyster flex bracelet, depending on the day, and how I wanted to wear it.

That watch will get you only halfway there though. I think it's a bad idea to offload steel Rolex unless you just never wear it.

If you have the means to do it buy the Daytona first and see if you still like having the Sky Dwelller around. You can always sell it later but getting another one may be tough. Unfortunately OF and bracelets are not interchangeable. The holes for the spring bars are in different places for the OF vs Bracelet versions. When OF came out I dismissed it immediately and thought bracelet versions were the only ones to have. I was lucky enough to get a YG Meteorite Daytona on Oysterflex and my opinion has completely changed. Having an OF Daytona in a colored metal is just the right amount of bling and the rubber strap makes it very versatile. I have worn this watch with joggers and a tshirt and also with a sport coat and if I was offered the bracelet version of mine I wouldnot trade. With the OF models you also get the CE Bezel which makes the piece so easy to wear carefree unlike the bracelet counterparts with the gold bezels.

Sell Skydweller by Rose Gold Daytona

Not a fan of anything on OF. A dress watch does not come on a rubber strap. By definition, a Daytona is a sports watch. The Skydweller is dressier. I’d save the money, and keep what you have.

The best scenario is to add, then sell later if you become certain

RG Daytona on OF is a beautiful watch. Feel super nice on the wrist. Sporty, sharp and functional. Keep the SkyD if you can. Special movement in an elegant package IMHO.

I did not know that inability to change the bracelets between the two that’s good to know. Yeah, the way you described it being able to wear it with multiple things I just really want it but swapping it out immediately with my Steel SD may not be the best.

Kat thanks for your input. Honestly, I probably should try it on. I have not even worn it yet. That might help me.

It would be nice to have each one of my collection and they are both what I wanted in my four piece Rolex collection until I move onto Patek

It’s nice to have bracelets and leather/rubber straps. Part of a blended collection.

Blue skyD is worth about 20k in trade vs 40k for oysterflex Daytona.

Long term your steel blue skyD is way more collectible.

Really? Curious why is that?

All wrists are different but comfort-wise the new 12 series OF Daytona with the glidelock feature really pushed me over the edge.

I sold one of my SkyDs with the intent to do exactly what you are considering. (Assuming a local AD will sell me one this year).

PM strap Daytonas have been around for 20 years. The price has trended toward 25k on most dial designs. I don't expect the ceramic bezel will make modern ones on rubber perform any better. Steel holds its value better.

sports watch = SS, or apple watch or g shock
skydweller is a nice, and is just too big
dress watch = cellini, calatrava, cartier tank (even the cheap ones)
CEO / boss = Day Date or nonrolex holy trinity watch

Yes it is and indeed it would. Sounds like something to aim for.

I know what you mean about the BLRO. The rest of my collection gets neglected when I'm wearing mine because I find it very difficult to take off. But as soon as the blue Sky Dweller on Jubilee goes on the bond is instantly there again. Getting rid of either is unthinkable - for me. Each to our own.

I would not get a Daytona on a rubber strap. Don’t do this deal. The skydweller is phenomenal, the Daytona on the wrist is at best, underwhelming.

I’d never give up an annual calendar for a stopwatch. If you really want a PM and think you won’t wear the SS SkyD, then get a PM Sky D on oysterflex. Plus these have a glidelock, which is an excellent feature.

Good plan. I have 126515 and it looks and feels amazing. The only downside, it’s little bit flashy, people tend to notice it. 126519 may be more under radar.

Even if I was offered SD at retail would have passed, too bulky and uncomfortable on the wrist, does not attract me at all

Am with Kat on this one. Having an OF bracelet is cool to change the look of your watch (es) every now and then but would not pay for a PM watch that comes with a rubber band bracelet

If Pepsi is ninety percent why not sell the Sky D and see if you could become the one watch zen master? If not, for dressier occasions go for a gold (white, yellow or rose) watch on strap. Patek gondolo or Cartier tank instead of round, so much better if formal and casual are occasions for wear.

The SkyD is a great watch, but i have special feelings for Daytona, so for me, I would make the deal.
