Long story short: I received a text from my AD that the exact configuration I want is coming in and he would reach out when its arrived. I have not purchased from this AD before, met two or three times over the past 3 months.

How far out do ADs see what is being shipped to them? It has been maybe a week so far since I heard from the AD.

Your AD probably knows what’s in the next shipment, so you got the call before the call.

They get shipments either weekly, or biweekly. So, should be soon. My AD calls me the day my watch comes in. Getting a little notice must be nice.

Interesting how trepid some are when communicating with a sales person.

I personally wouldn’t even hesitate to ask my SA specific questions.

Congrats in advance! I’d say you’ll be seeing the piece arrive within the next 10 days. My understanding from lots of hours on here reading countless “My AD said…” threads is that the AD gets invoiced for their next shipment of watches just prior to shipping out from the factory, so depending on your “geographic situation” those pieces arrive within approximately a week of that notification.

Good thing is if your SA already told you it’s coming that means whoever manages allocations at your AD told him he can sell it to you when it arrives, whereas I’m sure many pieces show up and then the allocation manager checks with the owner and other managers to see if they want to claim a piece for one of their friends or family before releasing it to an SA to sell.

Thank you - this is reassuring. I assumed the AD wouldnt say the exact config I wanted was coming in unless it was confirmed that it could be allocated to me. The mind games they play....
