Service at NY RSC stinks
Yesterday, I took a day off and paid a visit to NY RSC on 5th Ave to have them replace the lume dot on the bezel of my 16610 under warranty. The dot had a slight crack in the lume material itself and was hardly noticeable (nonetheless after spotting it, I wanted them to replace it). A fairly small request, right?
When my name was called, I explained to the service rep exactly why I was there. He proceeded to take my watch to the service area. Some 10 minutes later, he returned telling me that according to the head technician, there is nothing wrong with the lume dot. "All Rolex come from factory that way". I told him Rolex is famous for their perfection and there is no way they would allow for defective watches to roll off production. After unsuccessfully trying to convince me: I asked for him to bring out another Submariner out along with the head technician and have him explain this again. Also, I mentioned that I will write this up all the way to Rolex in Geneva and will blast NY RSC on every watch internet forum. He then asked if I wanted to speak to the manager and I agreed. Some 30 minutes later, the same rep returned with a brand new bezel (including new lume dot ) and said " we will install a brand new bezel - would this work for you"? I looked at the lume dot and it looked perfect. I asked him to go ahead and replace it. This is not the type of service I expected from Rolex. NY RSC is giving the brand a bad name. Mind you, I will never ever have them work on my watches. Rant over

That's why I sent my Sub to Dallas for warranty work. Plus my Sub's southern sensibilities might be hurt being worked on by a yankee Rolex tech.
Gus, adda boy! I 'm glad you stuck to your guns!! |

Good for you Gus I would have done the same thing. That's why I sent mine to Beverly Hills. Now they're closed
But no RSC NY for me BTW, I heard that Lititz is now an RSC as well.

I'm embarrassed as a New York yankee. NY RSC should be top shelf.

Sorry to hear that. That shouldn't happen from a Rolex service center.

exactly....i've been told they do some work onsite, some work to Lititz, Pa. and some work to the Dallas, RSC, but they do NOT disclose this to customers, which I personally think is wrong. At Lititz, there's a rolex training school, and I'm not sure how they do repairs there...is it staff members who do the training or students being supervised? I'll try and find out.......

Glad that you stood your ground and have the bezel replaced.
Should we all rally outside RSC in protest for poor service? |

But yes, I-285 may was well be a giant Nascar track. I know that I've done 90+ on it and was still being overtaken by cars on it.

Its unfortunate that you did not get it repaired just by showing it to them, but you did get it repaired, so I hope you are happy with the work. Sometimes you have to stand your ground.
I had a good experience with NYC RSC, brought my SS Daytona in for a regulation, it was running fast, I am not the original owner, showed them the warranty card, told them it was a gift, they were fine with that, they came back and said it would take about 15-20 minutes to repair, 20 minutes later I had the watch back. It is running dead-on now. So good experience here. |
