hello eric, are u chinese born canadian? anyway i love visiting your country, watches there are awesome!! have u visited the PHILIPPINES? its about 2hrs flight from HK.anyway im back in manila and might go there again this november, do u know any store that are selling pre owned watches? i went to your local AD and they told me all rolex are standard 8% discount only, is it true?

I can get 13% at an AD for you.

If you don't mind Grey Market, you're looking at about $60K HKD.

No, never heard of them, but then again there are more Watch Dealers in Hong Kong than 7-Elevens.

If you're looking for an AD, I generally deal with Emperor Watches.

That is great information. I have begun to ask around some friends who know a little more about watches than me. Here is the common and general understanding I have.

Currently (Nov 09), Rolex ADs in HK are offering 8% of RRP as standard.
I have a "distant" contact who says at Oriental Watch, the discounts get up to 18% off. I am trying to get this confirmed if true and applicable for the Deep Sea.
I have a friend who bought the DS when about 1 year ago. He paid HKD$68.5 which is the CURRENT RRP - ie no discount.
He tells me if you can get 8% off its a good deal... but I think its possible to get more : ) Theoretically, this means the price has gone DOWN. But I am not sure about what price rises have come in since launch? Does anyone know what the ORIGINAL LAUNCH price was for the DS in HKG? How many price increases have past and what were the increases?
Another source - family friend of a good friend who works at AD, tells me that he MAY be able to get a little better than 8% - but due to the EURO increasing its not easy.

Eric, can you help me with info on how to get 13% off? I am particularly interested in DS and MAYBE a second watch for my wife, thinking Oyster Perpetual, can't remember the model but he price RRP$29,700.

lots of people in HK loves their watches, i saw a guy selling newspapers and magazines on the street in causeway bay wearing a two toned submariner. im amazed!!

That's if you can find one in stock at the AD my friend

just like how the GMTIIC is never in stock at ADs here.
