Which Daytona would best complete my collection

I currently have a date sub, a SS silver dial 36 Datejust on a jubilee, and a GMT sprite on oyster. I do not have any gold watches.

I have decided I am buying a Daytona. I am going to bite the bullet and pay grey market. I am torn between SS with black dial, white gold with oysterflex, or yellow full gold not sure which dial.

I really like ceramic bezels as they avoid scratches. I would the gold bezel will scratch and I will be annoyed.

Which Daytona would you pick to complete my collection?

A yellow or rose gold daytona on oysterflex so you can get a ceramic bezel? If going grey the delta between a steel and a PM on oysterflex has narrowed recently.

For reference I bought a new discontinued white gold blue dial Daytona in the high 30s late last year since a steel Daytona was going to cost low 30s.

If your already thinking about being annoyed by the scratches than that already narrows your choices down to either SS or Gold on Oysterflex. I personally do not like the look of the daytona on the Oysterflex, I think the daytona looks sleeker and classic on the bracelet. I also am personally in the camp of preferring the non-ceramic bezel...to me the scratches are part of the charm. I have an 39mm Explorer and I hardly notice the scratches unless I stop and really take the time to "inspect" the watch. My personal favorite Daytona is actually a two tone with white dial. I am an 80's kid, so i have a love affair with Rolex two tone :-)

Surely it has to be the yellow gold one?

Old reference Panda 116500 . As you like ceramic bezel the new Daytona has a steel ring around the ceramic bezel, and already a photo on the net shows a gold Daytona with dings on it. If keen on the new model Daytona then go for black in my opinion. Full yellow gold Daytona is beautiful too.

The metal polished Daytona bezel is a scratch magnet! You should go for OF or SS that both come with the ceramic bezel. There are no wrong choices between the two but bear in mind the SS is more versatile vs OysterFlex.

You need a ceramic bezel. If you prefer bracelet vs OF, go SS black dial. If not, go WG on OF.

The gold case and bracelet scratch just as much as the gold bezel. Especially those polished parts.

SS sounds more up your alley.

I have owned them all and I would go with the last generation SS Ceramic Daytona with the Black Dial. I like the white but wore the black more when I owned it.

How about a two tone 16523 ?

Probably the best value.

If you can swing full yellow do it. It’s so nice. Second choice, oysterflex. Would skip the two tone if you’re already considering the next level^

Best value for money and future money retention will be 116518ln matt black (Paul Newman) . Most importantly I find this watch stunning too bad the new one doesn't have red chrono hand no more

I'm not spending $10k mark up on a SS Daytona personally

I would do the black Daytona and then trade your sub date in for a sub date LV

Given your collection, I would go with the WG OF. Good luck and keep us posted.

Between your listed choices SS black dial. I don’t care for anything on OF, and a full gold Daytona is just too much bling, IMO.

I would get a Oysterflex Daytona. They’re amazing pieces and something different than your stainless.

And another PM on OF fan and owner (RG, Sundust dial). Had a TT Daytona and the gold bezel as you stated is a scratch magnet. If you are already thinking this is a turn off, you need to go SS or PM on OF. And FWIIW, PM is very addicting. And the OF bracelet is so comfortable.

I’d pick the full YG PN dial. 116508 or the newer 126508.

However, if you must have ceramic, I’d get the OF version but with the reverse dial. Champagne dial with black sub dials. Aka Pikachu

White gold on oysterflex or 116500 panda for me. You already have black dial watches. Time for something different.
