Incoming BLRO

After expressing an interest in a Pepsi this past summer I got the call this week from my AD that one with my name had arrived. I even got some swag with it!

Was actually one of my best Rolex experiences ever. I had been frustrated by multiple other AD’s inability or willingness to get me one. I went to this AD for the first time and explained I wanted a Pepsi to commemorate several milestones I experienced in 2023. I said i was willing to purchase an expensive piece of jewelry that I would have them make for my wife. ($40k). I wanted them to sell me their exhibition piece. They said it was too new in the case and that Rolex would frown upon it without a similar replacement which they did not have. After discussion with my SA and the owner we agreed they would get me one no later than 1st quarter this year or sell me the exhibition if a new did not arrive. I also bought a DJ36 for my son that took about three weeks to get.

I got the call early this week that an Oyster had arrived or if I wanted the Jubilee I could have the exhibition piece. I chose the new Oyster. They say it was the first Pepsi since this summer. Throughout the waiting period they made regular contact and made me quite comfortable that they were good for their word. Pickup was a very nice and memorable experience especially with the unexpected swag.

Thank you for sharing! Interesting to hear about the same, scarce availability regarding the Pepsi that seems to be going on everywhere. So, did you go through with the bundle ($40k custom jewelry)?

$40k of custom jewelry that probably cost the store $10k to make. When I hear stories likes this it makes all the more reason of going grey is the answer.

Jewelry is hardly ever a good deal but it depends and I’m not counting other people’s money. If the watch was the sole motive for the jewelry, yea that’s probably not such a good deal. If the jewelry was planned for anyway, and the watch was an add-on, why not?

Yes. I bought the jewelry last July on the promise and handshake that they would deliver the watch by the end of this month. They kept their word and delivered. I thought that fair considering how difficult the Pepsi is to get and the worst case I would have ended up with the exhibition piece.

No. The watch was not sole reason. It was my wife’s 65th birthday and I planned to buy the jewelry anyways. Thought why not try to leverage it on the watch I wanted. I was very direct with the store upfront. Took about a week of negotiation to achieve the price I wanted to pay. I did not pay a premium on the jewelry compared to other non Rolex jewelers. Plus the finished piece exceeded all expectations. Including and especially my wife’s lol

The stores profit margin is relatively irrelevant here. OP clearly states he was going to buy the jewelry for his wife either way. Made perfect sense for him to leverage that purchase to get the Pepsi.
