Should I buy a 2 tone sub or GMT

Im new to these forums but I have a big decision that I need help with and quickly. Im going to buy a preowned 2006 "coke" bezel GMT II or a two tone sub (blue face). Which one will retain its resale value in the long run?

Very different watches, by the one that turns you on. Both easy to re-sell and similar on value holding.

If you can score a deal on the M-series 16613 BLUE, like I did, then that would be something to aim for ... A SUB will always be prized more than a GMT Master ...In all likelihood, you will have a harder time selling the GMT than a SUB ...The GMT Master has lower demand and resale than a SUB anyday ....A SUB is a SUB ...no other model can match its resale ... simply and purely ...

Now the blue SUB -- It is a stunning watch but also with a Stunning Price ... if you can absorb that price and get a real deal on it, then any day, if you try to sell it, you will have more offers on it than a GMT simply because it is SUB ..... and a TT Blue sub, well you will be bombarded with offers ....

I see steel everywhere ... two tones are rare ....When you see someone wearing a two tone, the first thing that comes to mind is "This person went the extra distance ....." And when you see a two tone SUB? ... Well, that's the ultimate definition and standard of two tone beauty, copied the world over ....

SS models usually have better resale than precious metals.

But since you're buying pre-loved, the first owner has already taken the hit for you. My advice is to buy the one that sings to you. Try both on, and see which makes you more excited.

You really can't make a mistake with either watch. Good luck with your search.

Personally, I'd go with the TT blue sub

Go with whatever appeals to you. In trems of re-sale, I think GMT would be a better deal.

Go with the one your eyes like best. I wouldn't worry about resale value on either of those two. It obviously should be worth less after being worn for years longer, but rolex holds value better than most brands.

I have both and I prefer the Blue Sub.

It feels better on the wrist, has a better clasp, has more weight and that lovely blue face.

However the gold just seems to attract scratches......

All in all, I would still go for the Blue.

Get which one smiles back at you. I own both and I use them for different occasions. My GMT is considered my "tool" watch where as the Sub, I wear on more special occasions. The GMT has been a wonderful watch to own. It's been with me through thick and thin but the blue Sub is a beautiful watch and looks great on. I wouldn't subject the Sub to what I've put the GMT through, even though I know the Sub is just as tough. Try them both on and see which one you like the most.....that will be "your" watch. Best of luck.

Resale should be strong for either one....based upon past retail and present resale, I'd say that unless we enter another Great Depression (don't rule it out), you won't gain or lose appreciably more/less on either watch than the other.

I think that resale should stay about where it is for the Sub, as the SUBstantial price increase on the new one should keep it from taking a substantial "new kid in town" price hit, although it might still have a nick to its price once the new ones are more commonplace...the GMT, otoh, has already had some exposure to the NKOTB, and seems to be holding steady price-wise.

The GMT will hide the scratches better with its brushed finish, and given that it's SS, it won't scratch as easily as the 18K on the Sub....so if you're rough on watches and anal about how they look, the GMT would probably be better for you.

As to which one floats your boat in the looks dept., it's personal preference, really...to me, the blue TT Sub is one of "the" iconic Rolexes (though having said that, I opted for the black TT sub after lots of back and forth), but the Coke is also iconic (though the Pepsi is the more popular of the two), so either one will suffice in that dept...the TT has a bit higher "bling" factor, if that matters one whit to you...

Bottom line is, see if you can find somewhere that has both in stock, A/B the two, and decide from there. Either way, you can't go wrong, both are beautiful timepieces.
