If I Were Running Tudor....
If I were running Tudor I would do the following:
1. Immediately scrap the Royal, 1926, Clair de Rose, and Glamour lines. In 10 years of being into watches I've never known anyone to purchase or discuss any of these models! As my brother said "they look like the watch our mom would buy for us if she was going to buy us a watch." 2. Quit making everything a Black Bay. I would make the chronographs and the GMT models their own stand alone lines. 3. Bring back the actual North Greenland Expedition watch as a 39mm Oyster Prince. So their lines would be: Black Bay (vintage dive watches) Pelagos (modern dive watches) Ranger/renamed Black Bay Pro (field watches) GMT line - renamed Black Bay GMT (pilot's watches) Chronographs - renamed Black Bay Chronos Oyster Prince (casual sports watch) What do you guys think? |

Good choices there.
Just email your CV to vacancies@tudorwatch.com and this time next week you'll be behind the big desk. |

As someone just getting into watches, I agree that there are sooooo many Black Bays. I'm leaning towards a Pelagos if a Rolex isn't in the cards.

Yeah, I agree with most of that. I love what Tudor has done but they don't need to call 80% of their watches Black Bay. That should apply only to the original Black Bay, the 58 and the 54. Rename the rest and the ones you suggest make sense.
Black Bay Pro would fit into the Ranger theme, Range Pro perhaps. GMT can just be GMT. The non-diver Black Bays should become their own range/name. Will never happen at this point, they've gone too far to go back now. Oh well, I still like most of their watches and especially appreciate Tudor for giving us things like the FXD. |

Good shout OP - shaving a couple mm off a few models would be my next step!

Some really good ideas. They also need to trim 2 mm from the thickness of the Black Bay Pro. 15 mm is just silly. Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

The black bay branding is incredibly confusing. I am not a Tudor guy and have never been able to keep straight the Tudor models other than the pelagos, so end up never even looking at their lines.

That's a logical suggestion. Sounds about right.

Tudor should keep and maybe expand on the Ranger name. It's been around since the 1960s and was registered by Rolex way back in 1929.

Good ideas, although I must admit I do not know any of the lines the OP wants discontinued

Definitely suggestions in the right direction. I would say having four lines prefaced with Black Bay still keeps the waters muddy though, the moniker loses meaning if it’s in front of disparate lines from a product placement and marketing standpoint.

I like Royals but for women. I bought one for a female cousin, she adores and wears it all the time, looks great on her.

I hope that Tudor:
1. Releases a Black Bay 58 with a date. 2. Releases a modern Date + Day prince for the US market 3. Updates all watches with in-house movements instead of using modified 2824/2892 movements. 4. Develops a modern-day tri-compax chronograph. 5. Releases a Tudor Royal with conventional stick markers as opposed to roman numerals. 6. Reduces the thickness of their cases if-at-all-possible. |

Know what?
Solid post Mike. I found myself silently nodding while reading. The only variable being that I have no idea what the market is in different geographic areas (particularly Asia). For all we know, those "glamour lines" sell like crazy and pay a lot of the bills. Kinda like Buick. |

Welp, the red at the tip of the seconds hand is a dealbreaker for me. How about orange? And I’m not crazy about that hour hand but it feels like I might be trying too hard to not admit I’m already in love with it. That watch is so close.

Here are my watch families: Pelagos Ranger Black Bay (include BB54 and BB58 lines) Trekker (former Black Bay Pro) GMT (former BB GMT) Chrono - unsure about what new name would be, but there are too many BB models so not BB Chrono Date Day (former Glamour Date Day) Other lines - don't care and no one else does either |

All good points. I’m actually more interested to see what they release than Rolex this year. I’d like to see them making bit thinner cases like the 54 which is a great piece.
A gmt in a 37-39 size would be great instead of the 41. Something more wearable as a daily you can actually buy at retail. They got the countdown on the site also unlike others, well done. |

I don't understand why you have the problem with Royal line. I really like the design and Im planning to get Royal 41mm blue or salmon dial. I think they looks very nice and elegant and also price point is very good for what you get.

Maybe they keep the lines because they sell them?
Anyway, I’m still waiting on a Tudor that makes me think “I must buy it”. |
