Yes, it would be a great weight belt.

I’d guess 390 grams?

Any other guesses?

A non-starter for most everyone. Such a weird release.

Nothing exciting/interesting for me in this years releases, but I have to say the 18kt gold Deepsea has give me a good old fashioned laugh, along with an exclamation of, “Whaaaaaaaat?”

Hilarious idea! It’s like taking a 500lb gorilla, strategically shaving it, shoe-horning it into a tux, and taking it to The Savoy for afternoon tea. Someone somewhere thought it’d be a “great idea”, but what you end up with is an exercise in pointless idiocy.

Mind you the even larger deepsea challenge selling at premium and I have been waiting for my allocation for more than 6 months still waiting.. may not appeal to you but Rolex has a VERY wide customer base and ppl tend to get larger and larger.. my boy he is 196cm tall muscular and yet he is not the tallest in his bunch of friends. The deepsea challenge he tired it on his wrist and it fits him perfectly while the normal 41mm sub looks like a toy watch on his 8+ inch wrist.

Cannot understand why, do you buy your watches based on the weight, or the actual watch.

It's always been titanium and essential to the watch's operation.

It could be we just want to know how heavy it is Peter?

Some might not be interested in a watch that weighs >350g.

The SS DSSD is heavy even in steel.

Oh I agree Rolex has a very wide appeal, and no doubt some people will absolutely love this, but my amusement at this release isn't to do with the size. Afterall 44mm isn't huge, and it still falls within a lot of people's sizing options. I used to own a 116660 DS myself.

My amusement with this piece is how they've taken what was (until the DSC came along) their most technical and hardcore dive watch and made it out of nice (relatively) soft and blingy gold, and even put some lovely PCL's in there too! Just a very strange idea IMO... hence my gorilla analogy. Like putting monster truck wheels on an F1 car, or making a teapot out of chocolate. Absolutely no reason for it, other than someone thought it would "look cool".

But I'm sure there will be fans of it, and like everything with the Rolex logo on it these days, it's sure to sell.

Right?

I found it to be too heavy in SS, I can’t imagine wearing a solid gold model.

To each their own.

It took me about 4 weeks of constant wear before i was completely accustomed to the weight and feel of mine.
YG is virtually going to be off the scale in comparison.

Yes, don’t get me wrong, I love the SS version and the heft was nice in the beginning, but by the end of the day I just couldn’t wait to take it off

Nevertheless, I’d love to handle one! I wonder if it’ll be heavier than the YM2 …

I guess the older I get or the further along I go in this hobby, I realize that for me wearing comfort is more and more important. A heavy watch just doesn’t work as well for me for daily wear. YMMV

I am absolutely amazed that Rolex would sign off on this lump.

Yes, you have lots of time on this forum, a "real" Sea-Dweller, etc.; however, you have long ago crossed the line from "experienced" to "grumpy old man". You're the Rolex Forums bully which everyone is well aware of, although most are too scared to state. Just go away already.

I'm hearing you Brian
The reason why i shared that it took me about 4 weeks to fully come to terms with it, was that in the past we have had threads which inevitably get around to every aspect of the wearability of the DSSD with the usual widely differing experiences.
It always struck me how quickly some said that it was in the order of 1-2 weeks. I always felt like i was a little slow to adapt and considered the possibility that i was particularly stubborn or at least very persistent with it.

A YG variant would cancel me out for good despite the lovely blue Dial and Bezel. Lol.

Just looking the watch up on the Rolex website and i see that it has a Cerachrom ring designed into it as part of the Ringlock system.
Hense the pretty blue ring under the Crystal that frames the Dial.
A very nice touch

Have you noticed yet that none of the Deepseas have the "Sea-Dweller" text anymore

I don’t know about a bully but some positivity that there are generations other than ones own would be nice to acknowledge occasionally.

The Masonic lodge comes to mind.

Being an elderly gentlemen who has some health challenges posting often about a watch you detest for the last 24 years is not healthy…..for anyone.

Is it going to be a replacement for the YM2? Some do want that huge chunk of gold on their wrist
