Polishing Rolex Oyster SS Bands

To remove scratches on SS Rolex oyster bands (i.e., for GMT, GMT2C's, Subs, Daytona's, Sea Dwellers,Explorer's, etc.), is their a maximum amount of times that you can have the bracelet/band of the watch serviced to be polished in its lifetime w/o compromising the 904 steel (removing to much metal)?

Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Rolex used to tell us that they expect a Rolex to last through about 5 complete refinishes for their lifetime..

This is not 5 times of running a scotchbrite pad over the bracelet... but 5 complete refinishes by machine..

Knowing Rolex, this is probably conservative and is based on when you start to notice thinner lugs or crown guards... or maybe by then the crown on the clasp is brushed off....who knows ...

Of course, it only takes 1 clumsy attempt by a hamhanded tech to screw it up completley.
