Platinum day date tragedy strikes
After sizing my new Platinum Day date, I put the spare links in my bag, which is stolen.
I reached out to my AD to replace the links and was quoted a crazy price. |

Sorry to hear. What else was in the bag? Did you forget it behind somewhere, and when you came back, it was gone?

Sorry to hear. :-(
$1,700 per link is definitely steep but does not seem “crazy” in Rolex Pt DD world, IMHO. Police report + insurance? |

Sorry to hear that. If you plan to keep the watch I wouldn’t bother buying the spare links as you don’t really need them.

You may be able to find someone with this watch who has spare links he doesn't need, and will sell them at a cheaper price.

You needed to remove 5 links.
You must have a small wrist. |

As others of recommended, I'd just enjoy your watch and forget about replacing the stolen links for now. If it's a keeper, it won't matter. And you can always buy them later down the road if really necessary.

Stop worrying and start living -
Remind yourself every time you look at that beautiful watch that you do not need the links in a drawer (or safe) to enjoy the DD Plat…. |

It sucks, but would also just move on.
You will anyways leave the links in a plastic bag in the box. The box will live in your closet and won't see daylight for the next 10 years. There are better ways to spend 10k ... unless you can find an absolute steal in the FS section |

Beautiful watch! If you plan on keeping it and don't need them, I'd hold off on ordering replacements (although I do like to keep a complete set).

Not worth replacing something you don't need, especially at that price.

Back in 2005 [those were the days] my wife & I stopped at the Rolex dealer in Whaler's Village in Maui. Back then the SA had a platinum DD strapped to my wrist within seconds of walking in. I was shocked how heavy it was. Five stolen links might have required more than one thief.
Sorry for your hassles. Enjoy the watch. dP

I wouldn't sweat it. No rush to replace the links just for them to sit in the box.

actually I prefer this smooth bezel version over the fluted one on this model, absolutely stunning! you don't need to worry about anything, it's no tragedy imho.

Great watch. It sounds like you don't need the links, maddening as it is that they were stolen. Insurance should cover it. When cruising at your chosen altitude nothing is inexpensive. At least you won't have to pay the admission price again.

Great watch, sorry this happened. I would start the journey to get the links and have a complete set. I would look at my homeowners insurance or specific watch insurance if you have it. I would also look and see if any are for sale here on TRF or other platforms. I have found EBay is a good place for some parts and accessories. Not sure about platinum links though. In the end, you had the resources to buy a Platinum DD with a diamond dial so you have the resources to buy the links, should you choose. One thing is guaranteed, that the cost of these links will only increase with time, just like most things Rolex. Get insurance if you don't have it and buy the links back so you have a complete set. Good luck.

At that price, I wouldn't be in a hurry to buy 5 links. If you plan to keep the watch, then wait until you need a link and purchase as needed.
