Is Jeweler's Red Rouge Cloth necessary?

1) If you are going to use Cape Cod, then is the Red Rouge Cloth necessary?

2) Does the Red Rouge Cloth remove metal also and has to be used carefully?

3) Can the Red Rouge Cloth be used on brushed surfaces?

thanks

Unless you already know how to use rouge I would say to stay away from it.

Polishing metal is simply a process of moving in steps from a coarse grit to finer to polish. You just need to find out which is which and then take your watch to a qualified jeweler and have it him do it.

Problem is finding one that that knows the difference between polishing and grinding the details down to a mushy nub.

All you need with any Rolex oyster is plain old soap and water and any old clean lint free cloth to dry it on.All polishing etc is best left to full service time when the RSC will brush polish your watch to as near as possible when new end of story.

And stay away from DREMELS! I have seen sparks flyin from people trying to remove hairline scratches. I always say "keep the scratches, then when you get the watch back from RSC from servicing, you will be all the more satisfied!"
