Old news now, but yes. The man has bills to pay. Good for him for having moved to Florida.

When you retire and move to Florida... time to relax.

Good for him, it's not like he needs the money. Put the watches back out in the market and let other millionaires enjoy them

He’s a collector for sure. That said, it is likely that buyers will be individuals with net worths in the billions - and an entirely different category of wealthy vs Stallone.

The interesting part is the provenance will attract a premium. So A-list celebs like him are in a rather unique position. They gain access to “stuff” that is otherwise difficult to obtain (absent paying a premium) and then can sell it at a “premium to the premium”… to those with more money but less (non-pecuniary-based) clout.

I really like the Cartier he is selling. As a Stallone fan I’d love to own a piece like that but talk about a safe queen. An engraved piece that he wore is his watch.

Anyone naive enough to think “He needs the money” or “I can’t believe he has to sell his collection” is misinformed - It’s simply an extremely wealthy man selling a fraction of his well known and documented collection (basically the pieces that he has no interest in wearing)…….

Agreed, plus am sure he knows he greatly missed the March 2022 top. Guys like Sly are not 'Dumb Money' bidding at auction with added fees. They are the smart insiders who sell.

As some here know, VERY recent auctions for artwork / etc have been very low on resale bids, so now is the time to sell before the probable big downturn. In fact some high-end items have been taken back by the seller for fear they'll get too low a bid, and thus possibly 'destruct' and 'disrupt' the inflated current resale marketplace.

Have no doubt buyers are already lined up for the Publicity Pieces to help maintain their perceived 'status and pricing'. Some brands greatly rely on the auction Publicity Machine to keep their retail brand rolling during these downturns in the market.

Sly is smart as Florida is where you can relax and enjoy life. There's no need for Monkey Suit timepieces in sunny tropical Florida

Exactly! Like John Mayer, who I imagine is really into watches because he finds them interesting and not because he thinks they're a money making scheme. But he gets access to all these unique or hard-to-get watches, and if he ever decides to sell them, "formerly owned by John Mayer" will add to the cache. He can't lose!
