Louis Vuitton watch roll and trunk for rolex

Does anyone own the watch roll or trunk and have an opinion? Looking to get both. Biggest concern is the lack of dividers in the watch roll, but assume they wouldn’t make it this way if the watches would slide around?

I have the watch roll. As long as you don't put the roll in a vertical position, not having dividers are not a problem. I do suggest you carefully examine the roll you are going to buy. Mine has this weird leather smell that smells darn right nasty at times.

I looked at them and decided there were better choices due to construction and quality. And price.

Agree with this statement. Look at products from Rapport.com or Wirstonomy.com (TheWatchStand), those offer much much better bang for the buck.

Roll has no divider, pass. The box is big ... and heavier than most think. Nice storage below the shelf. Solid box, very well made.

I have both. I disagree and think that the trunk is well made (LV used to offer a free painting program as well, which is now replaced with a costly stripes & travel stamp only service).

Your watches will slide around on the roll if they are sized to large wrists. I have very thin wrists so I have not had any issues but noticed that some friends with bulkier wrists complained that the roll will result in scratches on the cases of your watches from sliding around.

Have you considered the Goyard trunk? 6 watches and it looks amazing. I think similar price to LV. I was looking at the LV roll long time ago, but the lack of dividers worried me too.

Eventually got the goyard 2 watch roll, which turned out to be abysmal bc it’s so hard to click the buttons on the sides. Then I got the Bennet & Winch rolls, which I think is the best roll available at a somewhat reasonable price based on quality & brand.

The 4 and 8 watch boxes from goyard are also decent options. I have the 4 watch box, but the 6 watch trunk is on my wishlist. Worth checking out if you are open to non LV brands. Obviously try to buy in Europe and maybe Japan if you want to save a little

It’s rapportlondon.com

Saks Fifth Ave has a sale where a bunch of nice rolls are on sale on their website with a promo code.

I have the LV watch box. The price is high and if you're looking for the best value look elsewhere.

That said, I love it and the quality is top notch.

Here's a review of the LV vs. Goyard one (unfortunately the links to the pictures are broken now):

I’ve gotta say, there’s wayyy better options on the market without the fancy branding which adds multiple $$$ onto the price. You’re paying for the logo.
Don’t buy a roll without dividers, unless you like your watches knocking together.

Have to agree many better options around and far cheaper but most all so called designer staff you pay 80% for the brand name 20% for the goods.

My watch box is from Orient Crown and they are incredibly well made. The cushions are very flexible and will fit any watch size.

I looked at both but found there to be better options that I prefer. Bosphorus is my choice for a box.

Without sounding like a super fan - lol - I own two of the LV watch trunks. They’re beautiful and I believe made by hand. They make for a great way to store / display your watches. I guess buying in Paris as it will save you a few thousand off of the US price!

I also have an lv 3 watch roll,I think the lack of dividers is a miss for such an expensive roll… having said that, I use my daughters hair ties to divide my watches and it works just fine

I bought the Scatola del Tempo for 4 and was so impressed I ordered a second. I also have the Bosporus. Very different style but both are great quality, and Bosporus often has good sales.

Totally agree! Why pay “partial watch money” for accessories? What’s the point? I’m perfectly happy with my faux leather watch roll complete with dividers that snaps securely. It’s actually very nice.

The trunks I have seen do not have handles. Thus, hard to transport and easy to drop.

Why pay "partial house/car/vacation money" on a watch? rationalizing a luxury good purchase is unnecessary because we all know we are paying for the brand name to a certain degree.

Rolex watches are worth more than the sum of their individual parts, as are LV products. The brand is everything, and paying a premium for the right brand is totally justifiable in the case of rolex, LV, RM, or Hermes.

for people spending $10,000s, $100,000s, or millions on watches, spending a "little bit" more to buy a "quality" product to make them feel slightly better/special when retrieving/storing a watch is worth it imo. it's all about "emotional function", not about real functionality.

LV/Goyard trunks are quality products made by hand, and also have attractive stories behind its history comparable to many watchmakers.

I'm surprised so many are hating on luxury watch rolls on a luxury goods (Rolex) forum lol

I would also argue that high end watch cases are "cheaper" than other brands. true cost of a good is the depreciation of the product, not the price you pay. so if you factor in residual value, LV and goyard products are relatively "cheaper" in terms of true economic cost. That's how I justify spending on them at least

If this was March 2022 during the peak Bubble, there were many fans and support in posts. Buuuuuuuut given today's economy in 2024, it is akin to releasing an overpriced $6000 Tavel Clock a month after CV19 lockdowns.

Me? i say enjoy your time.

And mean that like you were once again a kid... as an 'adult'.

Have fun, ENJOY your time.

I had the LV watch roll. I liked it but the lack of dividers bugged me. I ended up returning it.

It’s money I can put toward my next watch. Simple as that. My $50.00 watch roll looks great. My watch cases are fine, too. Just a practical monetary decision for me.
