Netflix...thousands of shows and nothing I want to watch...

I've had Netflix for a few years, as well as Prime and Hulu (for ESPN hockey) and I almost never find anything on Netflix that I want to watch. A few shows once in a while but...

Here's a bunch of info to find stuff there that doesn't show up when you log on....https://www.cnet.com/tech/services-a...secret-menu%2F

Try, BBC iPlayer, or 'Talking Pictures' a UK Channel, they have a good range of old films, and in a link to lots of other movie genres.

If you haven't seen them, I recommend, the series, 'Killing Eve' and 'Fleabag', available on BBC iPlayer

I would second this if you can get BBC iplayer it’s as good as most and if you’re overseas you can switch out your vpn to the uk to register to watch it. We’ve just cancelled Netflix because after a while it offers up very little

I cancelled my Netlix account, I felt like it was a waste.

Yup seen both of those. Good shows.

All I watch these days is foreign stuff on Prime/Britbox/Acorn/Mhz.

A great show I'm watching for probably the 3rd time is 800 Words. A New Zealand productions. Also from New Zealand is Brokenwood and My Life Is Murder.

Loudermilk is an excellent comedy by one of the Farrelly brothers with a lot of heart.

I have a hard time finding programing on Netflix that interests me. Wish I could cancel but family says they enjoy it.

I hated Fleabag after.a couple of episodes and stopped watching until a trusted friend said to stick with it. After 4 episodes or so, I got the hype and that it was well done. Cannot comment on her other efforts though.

Watch Ripley. It was amazing. It was so good I did not allow myself to binge it. I watched one episode per night. It's rare I get to watch any TV anymore unless it's Octonauts or Paw patrol (because toddler). But I am a bit of a cinematographer type, so I was watching a lot of it for that aspect. Amazing visuals.

These are not Netflix, but yeah, Slow Horses is excellent. We (my wife) also enjoyed Bad Sisters on Apple TV.

Quarterback and Receiver are pretty entertaining. Eight episodes each. Peyton Manning was one of the executive producers.

We don’t find much on Netflix or Prime but recently came across Lincoln Lawyer (the series) on NF. Quite good…

Agreed. Very Alfred Hitchcock like. Especially the copious use of silence in the background that elevates the suspense.

I recently discovered thriftbooks.com and their dirt cheap prices for used books. It’s been a game changer.

Consider books over Netflix. Yes, it's great to turn the brain off after dinner & be entertained by TV. At the risk of mounting a high horse, my wife & I have been making conscious efforts to limit screen time. Honestly, silence has become one of my most cherished possessions.

Netflix seems to have lost so much content over the years.

That article was helpful, but it only applies to the kids who watch on their phone. If you use the built-in Netflix on the smart TeeVee or FireStick/Roku, you can't specify (AFAIK) the specific category like you can with a URL.

That said, I think the search function in the app is decent enough. The problem, as our OP mentioned and others have agreed, is that the content is mostly crap. There are a few good shows or movies (I strongly recommend "Don't Look Up" as well as "Bosch" on Prime) but they are few and far between.

I only got Netflix again (I dropped them when they stopped sending out DVDs) a few years ago because the wife wanted to watch one of her shows that went off network and onto Netflix. Ask me how many times she has watched it. Go ahead, ask me.

Yep, zero. Zip. Nada.

I've found some surprisingly good (mostly older) content on Hulu, and I believe this month they are showing "Homicide: Life on the Street" on Peacock, and I need to watch it, as I missed it when it originally came out.

Most of the original content produced for these streaming outlets is just garbage.
