I have been considering giving up my Rolex 126710blnr for sale as i don't get to give it much wrist time and go for a Rolex 126710blro. My brother just got his and it looks really amazing on his wrist! I fell in love with it at first sight!

What are your thoughts?

Absolutely. I admire the BLNR but it was a placeholder until I acquired a BLRO. Everytime I wore the BLNR I missed the BLRO--the greatest Rolex model ever!

Personal choice - I like the BLNR way more and could have had either from my AD. I like blue and don’t like red on a watch and the blue on the BLNR is the best blue Rolex makes. If you like red go for it.

I went reviews. I got the BLRO thinking I wasn't going to be able to take my eyes off it. Ultimately, it really didn't do anything for me and now when I see it, all I can think of is "hype" Sold it and going with the BLNR.

You’ve really already answered the question as to what appeals to you. Since you’ve not bonded with your BLNR, then you definitely should give the BLRO a shot.
For me I’m in the camp of those who like the BLNR over the BLRO. I’ll be wearing my BLNR today matter of fact. With my 5 watch rotation it’s still one of my favorite.

I would suggest taking a look at the BLRO under sunlight on a bright day. If you don’t like a pale red / purple color combo, it may not be for you.

It’s all subjective but it will be a relatively expensive move for a slight change in color.

Personally, on a modern GMT, I think the BLNR colors are the best option.

And do you really want to be “twinning” with your brother with watches?

Only you will know your own circumstances, so I say this with tongue slightly in cheek!

Your brother will either vocally or secretly resent you for copying him and having the same watch. Last thing he would want is turning up at any gatherings and duplicating with you.

I get BLRO>BLNR all things being equal, but you now have a special circumstance.

Keep what you have, BLNR is stunning!

Personally, I dislike how the blue/red looks with the modern BLRO (ceramic). Doesn’t have the contrast I prefer and I think it will age poorly once Rolex improves their process. Will be dated to this era, and more in a “compromise” sort of way.

The BLNR is well-executed and so I’d keep that and add an older blue/red aluminum bezel version at half the price…

I bought a BLNR thinking the BLRO wasn't worth the extra money. I was/am extremely happy with it. Recently, I succumbed to the various BLRO pictures (and having seen it in an AD), and bought one. I was right the first time: The BLRO isn't worth the extra money over the BLNR. The BLNR is a more vibrant and interesting blue, the BLRO is a plain red + purple. IMO, owning both, the BLNR is a better bezel.

That said, I like and will wear them both. My BLRO is still in its honeymoon period, so I'll have to see whether I keep it or not.

The BLRO is iconic. When the ref. 6542 GMT-Master was introduced in the mid-1950s, it had a blue-red Bakelite bezel insert. There's a reason the BLRO is the favored color combination every time there's a poll here on TRF.

I agree on the forum, but if you did a poll for non-Rolex fans that don’t know the history I bet BLNR might win. The black and blue look so good together.

I get that watch collectors are sticklers for details, but we’re talking about bezel and 24-hour hand colors… nothing more. Just buy whichever one you like more.

Assuming you're trading in for a grey model, you are looking at ~$5k to change bezels. Not worth it imo. Just borrow your brothers lol.

Definitely not worth it, in my opinion as well. And I own both.

I myself prefer the BLRO. If you are able to get it at retail then it might be worth it but going grey you’re looking at 4-5K difference when you do the trade.

I feel compelled to echo this post. I too had the choice of either, and went with the BLNR as the colors are more vibrant.

That being said, I am a huge fan of the Pepsi and the heritage, and had the BLRO had a more traditional red and blue tone to the ceramic, I may have chosen differently. The blue in the BLNR bezel is fantastic, though.

IMO definitely not worth the premium just to switch your bezel to less vibrant colors.

Purely subjective of course but I had a year old 11 series BLNR when I received my BLRO in December 2018. I sold the BLNR three weeks later because I knew I wouldn’t wear it anymore.

This post is the variable in the equation you have to consider. I owned a BLNR and it was a cool piece. I sold it to move funds into other hobbies. Later picked up a PepsiC to compliment my 16710. Ceramic BLRO is my fav and gets all the wrist time now even after the honeymoon period. So I say go for it.

But if my brother had one, I may reconsider for the points mentioned here. Maybe have a convo with him and tell him why you want to roll ur blnr into a blro. Tell him if u remove the L from BLRO you have BRO lol okay that was cheesy.

I think you answered your own question wit the initial post. You like the BLNR, but like the BLRO more.

I like what you have much better. As popular as the BLRO is here, I find the purple and pink bezel not to my liking. I understand the newer ones are a tad stronger, but it is still weak to my eye.
