Trade 2 rolex for 1 royal oak

Would you trade a ss daytona and pepsi for a ro?

The 2 watches were purchased at msrp, so cost is still less than msrp of royal oak

Depends on which model and dial colour of course. You can easily compare market value of both your watches versus the Royal Oak you want.

Next to that it will be important for you to determine how often you would wear a Royal Oak in comparison to your Rolexes. A Royal Oak is not a daily wearer for most.

Royal oak ss in black or the slate dial

Why not for a daily wear?

I would not. You have arguably 2 of the hardest steel sport Rolex's to get. I would keep those and wait for an opportunity on the RO.

I wouldn’t do this trade. As Mike said, you probably have the two most difficult to get Rolex sports models there are and you’re lucky to have got them (I can’t get either from an AD!) Not only are they difficult to get they are both awesome watches in their own right, hype aside, the Pepsi and steel Daytona are actually some of the strongest models in the entire Rolex catalog… there’s a reason everyone wants one.

Also financially it doesn’t make sense, here in the UK a Pepsi is around £16k grey market and a SS Daytona can be £20k to £28k depending on dial colour and year. So grey market wise your watches would probably be around the £40k mark to purchase whereas the Royal Oak is closer to the £30k range.

Personally, I would keep the Rolex’s and wait for the RO at a later stage.

Tough call. I’ve got a white dial Daytona, the Pepsi on jubilee and a Royal Oak (or two ) and I’d find that hard.

The RO wins hands down for me, but against two of the best Rolex models isn’t an easy choice.

What dial RO? Any chance you could get one through AP? Can you afford all 3 financially?

I would also like to add not to do the trade blindly, try on the RO in person as they wear very differently than your Rolex.

Been a hard core Rolex guy for 45+ years with dozens of Rolexs over those years. Recently traded into a Grey dial RO and Love it. Wish I would have done it a long time ago. Been on a 4 month honeymoon with it right now. Its actually been a breath of fresh air since its so different (in a good way) from any Rolex I have ever owned. I did trade in a duplicate style Rolex so it wasnt too hard of a hit. I do recommend you try it on if you havent already. It was right for me but isnt for everyone. If you can live without those 2 mentioned I would in a heart beat.

I used to like Royal Oaks. After owning one, I don't like them anymore. I'd get a Patek

Trade 2 rolex for 1 royal oak

Not for a 37mm or 41mm RO three-hander but maybe towards a Jumbo.

A SS RO isn’t a super robust/durable watch for daily wear vs a Rolex; especially a sports model.

- Lots of flat and angled, brushed/polished surfaces that love to attract love-marks, both case and bracelets. (This may not bother you at all)

- You also have to be more careful with the crown when setting/winding the watch; the stem is much more fragile than what most are used to when coming from Rolex.

No dog in this fight, I have multiples from both brands and love them all; just *very* different watches.

I’d have to agree with: “add” don’t “trade”, if it’s doable. A RO added to your 2 Rolex pieces you mentioned would be a great trio.

I am a huge RO fanboy but Nope those are 2 grails. Adding a RO would make it a 3/3 grail HOMERUN

I’d keep the Pepsi as your daily and sell of the Daytona to fund a retail RO.
I’m of the opinion that Rolex still looks good with a lifetime of wabi but wearing a RO as a daily would make me sad when it got all scratched up.

If I was to reduce my collection down to two watches it would be the Explorer 36mm as my daily and my 37mm RO for other wear

..Explorer, Spring Diver & APRO..

I would much rather have one RO over a Pepsi+Daytona, but wouldn’t you be better off selling your pieces and then buying a RO? I assume Daytona is about high 20s and Pepsi is high teens. So let’s just say $45kfor both Rolex’s…and a standard 37/41 RO at this point should only be like $30-35k?

How's your relationship with your AD? I mean, if you got those two at MSRP, it must be good. You could trade these off for the AP and get back in line for a Pepsi/Daytona if you feel lucky enough and situated enough with your dealer.
