Pick only 1 daily watch: 5711 Nautilus or 5164a Aquanaut?
For a daily the 5164a wins for me. Less scratch prone rubber strap plus travel time in addition to date.

For me this is mostly about looks and I prefer 5711 on that front.
It always surprises me how many people think travel time is a great complication. IMO it is totally overrated. When I was criss crossing time zones all the time I never missed a travel time watch. The "travel time math" ran automatically between my ears. I never even had to actively think about it. Scratches on the bracelet are the least of my problems when the bezel is a scratch magnet like on Aquanaut and Nautilus. One could argue that you can get the bezel replaced if you get it ruined on a Nautilus (like on a RO, just more expensive) whereas bezel and case are one on the Aquanaut. Another plus for 5711 is its versatility. It looks good no matter what you are wearing. Aquanaut with a suit looks similar to a Submariner with a suit. You can do it, James Bond has done it (with the Submariner), but that doesn't mean it looks good. |

The only complications I ever use on a watch are the date and a chronograph function so the 5164a is no improvement over the 5167 for me.
Of your two choices, I'm with ts3, 5711/1a. If it was the 5711/1a or the 5167/1a I'd go with the 5167/1a simply for legibility. |

If you are in more formal settings, 5711a. Otherwise, 5164a or 5167a.

Have and love both. But the 5711 sees more wrist time. For travel, the 5164.

Tough one. I have both 5711 white and 5164r. To me the white 5711 was always THE watch to have but I wear the 5164r way way more and it’s the one I would keep if I could only have one.

5164. It’s the most comfortable watch I’ve ever owned

I’d choose 5711/1 in this discussion.
What I chose for myself was 5711j. The g/j are nice options that provide the best of both worlds if you leaning towards nautilus. |

My 5164A gets the most wrist time. Super comfortable and light.
The most versatile for outdoors and office, stealth bracelet. I find the 5711 too formal for a daily. |

5167 over 5164. Slimmer without compromised complication.

5164a. It’s got slightly more going on. But no bad answer here.

I have both...not sure I could give up one of them. I'm wearing the 5164A right now, so maybe that's telling. But I do really enjoy the 5711 as well.

5164. I have both and if I had to sell one, it would be the 5711.

Generally prefer Aquanauts but as a daily I need a date window so 5711.
5167a over both. |

Would have been a cool poll, and curious what the responses are from those on the outside looking in, versus those who own both
I own both 5711 + (5167a, vs 5164a), I've owned 5164a twice, and my vote would be either the 5164a or 67a.. I like 67a more than than 64a for daily use because of how thin and light it is, but 64a has the better looking dial and beautifully easy and useful complication The 5711 on paper is the "cooler" answer because it's the more special watch undoubtedly, but the Aqua is more rugged, more solid feeling and less delicate, and the rubber strap definitely makes for easier daily use than the museum-esque Nautilus bracelet that picks up scratches quite easily |
