Which Patek World Timer?

Now that prices have cooled and are reasonable, I'm thinking of picking up one of my favorite Patek models.

5110 - Love the guilloche pattern on this one the most. It's basic, but looks nice IMO and suits the watch.

5130 - Dial pattern is less exciting but the hour hand style I like more. The larger 39mm size is probably better for my 7.25 inch wrist.

I could go either way, but am leaning towards the 5110 because I like the guilloche pattern more. Is there any other difference between the two that I missed? The 5130 is newer, but I believe the movement is the same and it didn't change in any way from the previous version?

For me, it’s enamel or one of the 5930 iterations.

I nearly got the 5110R 7-8 years ago, I love that watch. I liked the G when I tried it as well. Many expressed their appeal for the Pt version back then.

You spotted the differences indeed (size, hands shape and type of central decoration).

I would add that a few limited editions were available. The Munster, Taipei, Doha and Singapore for the 5110 for instance and the Munich (with a different guilloché pattern), Shanghai, Mecca editions for the 5130. Maybe there were others.

The movement was the 240 (maybe they had different specs, I can't help more on that matter; balance wheel, spiral material?). However, roughly the same from outside.

Enjoy your hunt.

I'd go 5110 (pretty much any metal) or 5230P (don't like the G and R there except for the limited G from the NYC exhibition). Never liked the 5130 much. The guilloche pattern is one reason but also don't like the seemingly more sparsely populated city ring(s).

In order of preference - the 5231G then the 5230P.

Almost any enamel, especially 5231

Or

5935, very very nice watch - especially as you have a larger wrist.

5935a! Such an amazing piece and very wearable with its steel case, steel deployant clasp and comfortable diameter. A piece you can use to dress up and dress down.

The 5230p is my choice for a WT. I owned the 5130p as well.

I like how the blue dial extends to the edge of the dial. And the color of the blue is one of my favorite blue dials I’ve seen and worn. There is enough play with the gradient blue to dark blue without being too bright or trendy. It’s a timeless blue.

The center of the hand engine turned guilloche dial is beautiful.

The lugs are interesting and shapely, and they provide a great dimension to the watch.

Add in the crisp color of the platinum case and the perfect size and thinness of the watch — it is one of my favorite Pateks. It’s so easy to wear. I wear it with a suit, or with jeans / shorts and a polo. It’s very versatile.

It was a very short run on this reference, so find one while you can.

No consideration for the 5230? I like the hour hand on this version the best along with the center guilloche pattern.

I grabbed this just in time before it was discontinued, for me it’s just perfect.
