my LV got scratched up about 2hrs after I took off the stickers!

I put it on & basically didn't take it off. Yard work, boating, swimming, showering, etc.

I bought this *tough* watch for a reason, let's see what its got

Exactly! I wear mine 24/7 doing just about everything. I have a ding on the bezel and 7PM lug. Nothing bad, but I know its there. I don't plan on taking my watch off for anything. I have noticed a few marks on the underside generated by either a Zulu or bond strap, dunno which one did it, not bad but a couple parallel marks.

Just be glad it isn't a Panerai. I have a theory that they use a special form of highly magnetic stainless steel that actually attracts objects that cause scratches and dents. Unusually the "magnetic" stainless steel also attracts objects made from wood, plastic, ceramic etc. It'd either that or the high polish and size...

I believe my Exp1 lasted a whole 24 hours before I dinged the bezel and my Daytona got a couple of nice dents in the clasp after a week or so.

Whats even more shocking is my bathroom tiles in my condo lasted a whole 6 months before I chipped one when I dropped my SD Good thing is that the SD is now pretty much spot on accurate after the drop.

I've always wondered how they regulate a watch.

I've had mine I guess for five months now. I have a VERY SMALL nick on the edge of my accrylic crystal. Other than that it looks brand spanking new. The clasp is even scratch free!

I've had all 4 of my Rolexes for 3-4 years now and don't have any noticeable scratches on any. One DJ is an '83 vintage, a second is a
91 vintage, the DD is an '86 model and the GMT is an '03. No real scratches on any of them and I have hit door jambs, desks, etc. with all of them. These things are tough cookies.

sometimes. it's safer to leave it on than take it off sometimes. I feel more comfortable sometimes with it on my wrist than in my locker, pocket, car, etc...the SD is one tough cookie.

i'd worry more about my wrist than that chunk of steel

Well, it's been 11 months since I purchased my SS GMT Master II (black bezel), and it's still scratch free. IMO, the longer you go without a scratch, the more painful that first one will be.

I don't bother to check for scratches on my 5 month old Datejust. I know there must be many, especially on the Oyster bracelet and the clasp, that's just part of wearing the watch and don't bother me at all. On my '04 Lexus... aaah... that car is mint except for 1 door ding that I had dinged myself when I was getting out of my '05 MDX. Hee hee... on the '05 MDX itself I think I have 4 dings, one on each door panel. I notice these when I wash the car, but really I don't think much of it. I've had many watches before that scratches much more easily than the Datejust, so far I am really amazed at how tough the Datejust is. I think part of this is because the Datejust is smaller, and it has a small bezel. One time I closed the hatch of a van right onto my Oyster bracelet and to my surprise only caused a very light scratch and no ding. If it was any of my other watches I'd say the bracelet would be dinged badly.

I've had my gmt II for almost two months, losta small scratches around the band nothing a polishing pad can't get out.

mine is an everyday watch with the only times I take it off are for sleep, shower and gym so I'd expect it to get some marks...
