Was first Patek US store really opened in 2008?

Am I reading this fact wrong, or was there really no USA dealers for Patek Phillipe until 2008?

Definitely not correct. I know of a dealer (no longer in business but closed rather recently) that sold Patek in U.S. far back as early 1900s.

I used to go to Turgeon Raine in Seattle in the 90s. I imagine Govberg and Wempe had Patek back then, maybe even earlier?

Is this what you are reading:

"2008 The first Patek Philippe US boutique opens in Tiffany’s flagship store on Fifth Avenue, New York"?

from this document: https://collectability.com/learn/chr...k-philippe-us/

That talks about the first boutique in the US, not the first authorized dealer, which, as others have stated above, had been around a long time prior to 2008.

Tiffany was the first AD for Patek in the US. It was in 1851 if I remember correctly.

From the above chronological history document:

1847 Patek & Co. sells watches to Tiffany, Young and Ellis, New York.

Back in the day Patek's US presence was known as the Henry Stern Watch Agency, HSWA. Not sure when Patek and HSWA became synonymous, but HSWA is in NY and also a boutique and service center.

Great book about the early days called "A Grand Complication"
