Anyone own the 5168G?

I was offered the 5168 in Blue today and was surprised how much I liked it.

Would be interested in any thoughts from anyone who owns this piece or owned it. Mostly curious in how versatile the Blue is and general impressions.
Thanks in advance!

Uh yea. Definitely get it. It's sick especially from an AD

It’s beautiful! I’m still wanting for the call on a 5968

I love the dial. I’d say it’s a bit more like a saucer than the 5167a - the size difference and feel is real. I’d prefer smaller. Still, no regrets at my purchase.

I own it and regret buying it, I never wear it. I find it wears too large on my wrist. I learn’t from this watch that 40mm is the absolute maximum that I feel comfortable wearing.

It’s a lovely looking watch so if your wrist is big enough, go for it!

Yes, I have one I got last year from my AD. Love that watch, it's thin and wears well.

Thanks all! Some gorgeous photos. So I was so surprised when they offered it, I put it on my wrist with an uncut strap and didn’t really pay attention to the ‘Jumbo’. It seemed to fit my wrist well but was hard to tell since I was really just holding it on-and to be honest, that. Blue is mesmerizing.

For those of you who commented on the size, that’s my only real concern- I have a 6.75” skinny but flat wrist. Appreciate any feedback from someone with similar size wrists.
Thanks!

I had the green 5168g for a few months. It wore too big for me, and my wrist is 7.1” and flat. I thought it lost it’s chic appeal, and also got a bit top heavy.

I traded it towards a 5164a and never looked back.

In my pictures above, I am sporting a 6.5" wrist. Feels great and looks fine!

Thanks for sharing! I can’t get it out of my mind and this is the one thing I’m wrestling with.
Curious if you also wear it casually? The reason I ask is because I own a Rose Gold Yachtmaster on Oysterflex and it literally goes with anything.

Appreciate the feedback. Your wrist is definitely larger than mine.

I wear it all the time including with a suit and with t-shirt and shorts. It's an epic watch for any occasion.

I also have a WG Daytona on Oysterflex that I wear with anything and everything as well.

I'm not an Aquanaut fan but I remember I enjoyed trying it when I saw it for the first time.

White gold and the blue dial work very well together and make the watch attractive.

However, on my 6.2" wrist, it was much too big. So, it depends how you like to wear your watches vs your own wrist :)

Thanks for this! I love that Daytona-I own the Black & White SS and love the fit. I also wear my Everose YM regularly and love the Oysterflex.
Appreciate the pics!

Thanks. I own the 5396/r which is not everybody’s cup of Tea but for my lifestyle these days I only need one proper dress watch and for me the 5396 is classic PP.
My 6.75” wrist is my one hesitation without properly securing the strap. What I may do is ask to try the 5167 on for size comparison?
Thanks again!

Even at retail it’s a lot of money to not be certain. Did you ask for it or it was just offered. I am not sure I’d get it unless it was something I had really wanted. Was there piece you wanted instead? I guess what I’m saying is that I’d pass rather than convince myself to buy it.

When I got mine, it was what I had on my list — a 5168G, 5167R, or 5167a.

The 5168 would be a hard pass for me given my 6.6 inch wrist. I passed on 5167 as it looked quite large already also compared to 5711. Briefly considered 5165 but couldn't find a nice one preowned at the time.

It's a great watch if your wrist can pull it off as others have mentioned and I love the color combo with the dial and strap in WG. I have a 5167R and I did try the 5168g display model and found it a bit too big for my 6.3-6.5 inch wrist. I wouldn't call it so big that I wouldn't wear it but now after owning the 5167, I find its proportions to be perfect and I wouldn't want it any bigger

My wrist is the same size as yours and owning the 5168G, I find it perfect in size and thickness and rarely wear my 5167 any more.

Agree! I’ve learned that going after what you truly want (especially at these price points) is critical.
They have my wish list and this was on it. However, my only hesitation is size since I hadn’t tried it on until yesterday. I’m going back tomorrow to try it on one more time and if it’s too big I’ll pass.
Thanks for the perspective though…

Thanks! How do you feel about your wrist changing size in summer/winter since it’s not an adjustable?

I have found that rubber straps tend to cling to the skin. Therefore, I just cut them so it’s a tiny bit loose in the winter and then it’s tighter in the summer. The watch is so light you never notice.

Thanks for this. I have a feeling they will offer me the 5167/r if I find the 5168 too big. I’m a big fan of RG.

Will let everyone know what I decided in a few hours!

Appreciate the response. I have an Oysterflex but it has mini glidelock, but for Patek I think I’ll go with your recommendation. Precious Metal tends to be top heavy so I considered that as well.

I purchased extra straps, and change them depending on the season only takes a minute.

Well I ended up getting the 5168. Spent almost 3 hours trying on various pieces, but mostly the 5168 and the 5167/r.

At first the 5168 did feel a bit big but compared with the 5167 it felt and looked right for my wrist.
I was actually quite surprised at how small the 5167 looked on me. My wife and our AD agreed it looked small on me. I think the thickness of these plays a big part in the overall look in feel. Most of my watches are 40mm Rolexes and it’s just a different look size wise.
I do love that 5167 though and it was originally the one I thought I wanted before I saw the 5168.
Pics Wii follow, but since it’s a weekend I couldn’t do a money transfer.
Thanks to everyone for your feedback and tolerating all my questions!

I completely get your analogy now that I played with both on the wrist. Like you prefer smaller but the aesthetic of the 5168 just won me over.
