Napa Getaway (pic heavy)

Just got back from a quick getaway to Napa this week figured I’d share some pictures.

Heading out:

Had to stop for coffee at my better half’s request

Got into Napa Valley; first stop was Robert Mondavi for their “Legend Lunch”. Highly recommend! Service is by a sommelier that shares history of Napa along with the history of the Mondavi family. Very cool atmosphere and food was exceptional.

After lunch we headed for Castello di Amorosa. Super cool winery owned by the Sattui family that has been in Napa for decades. They built the whole castle from imported stones along with rock hewn from the local mountains. Completed in 2007 it feels very old and authentic inside (complete with dungeon and torture chamber lol) plus the wine was top notch!

After the castle we settled into our room at Alila. This boutique hotel in St. Helena backs up to the Beringer winery and was an excellent stay with great views and very accommodating staff. Our room had a balcony overlooking the vineyard with a fire pit that came in quite handy as the valley cooled off in the evening.

After settling in we had dinner at Bouchon in Yountville. Delicious and made a nice alternative since I wasn’t able to score a reservation at French Laundry lol. The tartare was so good!

Next morning we had a lazy start around the hotel with in room breakfast (and finally getting to read the new Rolex magazine). From there we did some shopping and then headed for Far Niente for our last tour before heading back.

What an amazing trip! It looks like you & your wife had a blast. Bouchon is nothing to turn your nose up at! That's still a TK joint. Getting TFL reservations was a bit of a PITA when we went. They open up online (I think) two months in advance on the first Thursday of the month(?). We had two laptops & an iPad open ready to pick our timeslot. All of the reservations for the month were gone in, I swear to you, less than 5min. I think KatGirl lives in that neighborhood. Throw a croissant from Bouchon on her porch next time

Haha will do! And yea I had my phone and my desktop on the reservation site but was unsuccessful (this day sold out in seconds for some reason). Hopefully next time! Bouchon was excellent and I will definitely go back. Plus the bakery the next day was so good!!

Looks like a blast.

Seeing the burned out hillsides brings back some memories when I lived there a few years ago.

Excellent trip and great pics!
But now you have to come visit us over on the Central Coast. We are the mini Napa with over 300 wineries and some wines which could definitely compete on the same stage as Napa.

Yea our last trip to Napa was literally scheduled the day after the fires started, so it was nice to finally get to go even just for a short trip.

Whole extended family lives in SLO. Been going to Paso since before there was a Walmart lol. Just when I go out there I’m visiting family so haven’t been to the wineries much honestly. Need to go play tourist for a few days for sure!

Firestone walker is one of my absolute favorite places to go eat lunch and have a beer

We had a work even in Napa about 15 years ago and had an event at the castle, what a beautiful place that was!

We used to be club members at several wineries there and went to Paso twice a year. Some excellent wineries and restaurants there, and I love how varied the settings are. Brecon, Law, Calcareous, Hammersky, Clos Solene....so many beautiful spots.
