It‘s happening - First AP incoming!

I am over the moon that I just got The Call for the most stunning piece I could imagine - the ROC 26715ST has just landed, and it’s sporting the gorgeous nuit nuage dial. I would like to sincerely thank everyone on this forum who had chimed in on this thread https://rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=869407 - I’ve received so much helpful guidance from very knowledgeable people, who also contributed to this thread https://rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=914826 (I’m quite a nerd when it comes to technical details ), and I’m deeply grateful to this positive community of fellow aficionados of quite an obsessive hobby

I’ll hopefully pick this incredible piece up shortly, brace yourselves for a serious photo love story.

The whole interaction with AP was awesome, and I believe they excel in turning fans of the maison to absolute advocates - I don’t even hold the first watch in my hands, and I’m already yearning for the next

This day could not have gotten more epic

Thank you very much to everyone here for chiming in - fresh out of the box

…oddly enough, the pictures I put in my Dropbox don’t show up here - anyone an idea why that would be the case?

I can’t directly answer your question, however perhaps download the Tapatalk App and use it to view the forum and to post photos easily.

Excited to see your incoming shots 👍

Thank you very much - I initially tried the 41mm but the dimensions wear incredibly large; I‘m quite happy that AP retains the re-worked FP 1185 movement, the chrono sits slender and elegant, and I keep being mesmerized by the dial interplay with different lighting angles

Indeed such a year-end treat. And as I said, I could not have been happier with the interactions I had with AP. That they made this happen in just two years wait as a first is incredible!

The pick-up was awesome as well - the box was waiting to be unpacked, and I also got some really cool swag to take with me

All in all such a different experience than Rolex.

In fact, I also visited the AD today and cancelled my waitlist watches - once you go AP, there‘s no going back - it‘s a completely different experience and feel

Im currently waiting almost 2 full years in for my 1st AP from the boutique and I really like your optimism and appreciation for the brand. It's definitely more rewarding and well deserved for the blue 38mm Chrono they offered you. Most others would easily say 2 years is too long and bad mouth the brand. Patience is definitely the key for the hunt. I'm very happy for you. Good job!

What made a significant difference was the process - when I first engaged with AP, I felt the conversation served to get to know each other, and gauge genuine interest. After that, the whole process had been transparent and fair - I was told that the ROC would be possible as a first watch, and that the grey dial could come through maybe after a year, whereas blue would require more time - attainable still, but requiring patience.

During the entire time, I checked in once in a while with them, and was always updated transparently and promptly, but also treated as a valued client-in-the-waiting.

I don’t think that people mind waiting for a coveted watch per se, what disassociates buyers from brands is the waitlist game - and AP handled the demand situation entirely differently, which ironically led at my end to a much stronger brand loyalty. Taking channel control in-house was a very prudent move in my opinion, and really strengthens how the brand is perceived and talked about.

I believe people react emphatically to fairness, and as such, Rolex ADs have done a terrible disservice to the brand image. I, for once, left AP already thinking about what watch to set my eyes on next, and can’t really see myself go back to Rolex, albeit I can call myself fortunate enough to own a few nice pieces from them, which I still very much enjoy. However, I don’t see myself getting another.

Best of luck with the watch you’re waiting for! Fingers crossed this will come through shortly!
