FP Journe - Gold vs Platinum Resonance RN - which one?
Currently picking one of two potential FPJ Resonance RNs (comparison images below on my wrist!)
Realise i've discussed this in the FPJ thread but I thought id pull this out as a separate thread as I want to use the poll feature! Gold (2005) Positives + A resonance is the best calibre of watch one can buy - and having it in a gold with the yellow/pink dial makes it more distinctive and stands out + Pink/yellow dial more reminiscent of the OG resonances - i.e. has more of the Journe DNA Negatives - Gold potentially too ostentatious and therefore harder to wear - No card, but has letter of authenticity (not sure if this one matters tht much) - More expensive than the Platinum by 10% Platinum (2008) Positives + More subtle and therefore easier to wear + Has original warranty card, cheaper than Gold by 10% Negatives - Not as special, doesnt stand out as much, less of the Journe DNA For context - the rest of my collection has no gold pieces, mostly steel sport pieces (nautiluses, aquanauts etc) |

Most definitely RG in this case. The dial is my favorite!

Personally I think the rose Gold version is the better looking of the two. It's a difficult decision. I don't think you can go wrong either way.
I would pick the Platinum version based off wearability and it's 10% cheaper. |

I think it comes down to your skin tone. For you, IMO, platinum.

I think you already answered yourself in your post. You are definitely leaning to the RG. BTW, as I pointed out in another thread, RG FPJ is much rarer in terms of production especially for early day Journes.
You also seem to want the original resonance look. But bear in mind that platinum is the original metal from FP. But the gold dial indeed the original look and this one looks gorgeous. Paperwork only matters if you need service under warranty. The LOA says everything since the boutique will not issue the LOA if there is any issue with the watch. (Like it was reported stolen) Are they both 38mm? |

If both versions make your heart skip a beat the same amount, go with the Platinum. It’s a stealth-wealth move, and only watch-people will know and appreciate what you have.

As posted on another board.... am 99% of the time a rose gold guy, big time, tho there are certain timepiece where plat / white / ss imho makes for a visually more legible/pleasing design.

You are not alone. Most people who asked for opinion here seem to have their mind made up. ;-) If they are 38mm, it will be extra special. But you cannot go wrong with any FPJ. This version of the RN is the most aesthetically pleasing iteration IMHO with its symmetrical dial. |

Platinum is 100% the more popular one. Across all watch events I have attended, I have only seen 2 rose gold other than mine below. The rest (probably around 15 to 20 pver the years) are all platinum.
